    Need Help

Hello everybody I have this big problem and not sure what to do. I have a dog that is half lab and half shar pei, his feet are so swollen. I took him to the vet and they did exploratory surgery on his feet because she said the swellen was due to fox tails and she found nothing. He was on antibotics for over 2 months and his feet have not improved. I am hoping somebody out there has had similar problems and can maybe help me find somebody who knows what is wrong with my dog.. Thanks for your time.

I agree, I would find a new vet that can give you new antibiotics and tell you better information.

Here's a site I found on foxtails, maybe it'll help:

Please keep us posted and let us know how your doggie is doing!

Your Vet seems to have zeroed in on the most common cause, that being infection and/or toxicity due to embedded foreign objects.

As others have suggested you should ask the Vet for a referral to a specialist. Other problems that could likewise cause swelling include kidney problems, autoimmune disease, and misc causes.

One of my friends' dogs had a similar problem that turned out to be caused by diabetes. I would also recommend seeking a second opinion.

    Thank you Wolf_Q!

Best of luck to you both in finding the cause.
