Bubba isn't very affectionate....

Bubba, my poor girlie is only 4 months old. When I got her she was not well socialized and had cheletiellosis, worms and earmites.. I have had to keep her confined for 2 weeks when i got her and I had to bathe her every other day..
She doesn't seem to want attention and I usually have to seek her out to pet her. She will lay next to me or my kids and very rarely will she lay on a lap.
When I do pet her, most of the time she willnot purr and she will usually back away or duck her head to avoid the attention.. I was hoping that she would pull out of it. She is exptremely playful but not a loving kitty..
Anyone have any suggestions on how I can get her to love the attention she recieves.?

Is she spayed? You need to think about it. She'll start going into heat if you don't, and she's at risk for cervical, ovarian, breast cancer. She's also getting to know you. Sit on the floor, her level, and throw her treats. Don't go pulling her out of where she is. She needs to have a "safe" area. Eventually she'll come out on her own.

Softly talk to her and slowly blink your eyes at her. Eventually, she'll do it back, which is a sign that she's starting to trust you more.

She'll come around. It may take a while, but you'd be surprized how loving they become once they know you and get into a routine.

Bubba is getting spayed Sept 6th.. I have had her since the end of June and I do everything that moosmom has mentioned above.

Four months really isn't very long at all. My cats took much longer than that to come round. I would just keep playing with her, letting her sit close to you, and give her more time. Good luck.

When I first got Jack (he was 7 mo. old and had lived his entire life outdoors) he had terrible ear mites. Back then the only thing they could do for him was use eardrops twice a day. The mites were so bad that we had to do this twice a day, EVERY DAY for 40 DAYS!! Needless to say he really hated having his head touched or his ears scratched or even to be held. We would have to wrap him up in a bath towel to get the drops in because he'd learned to hate it. It took him a long time (a year or longer) to warm up to having his head touched or be held, however now he's as affectionate as they come (he's 6 now), and LOVES to have his cheeks and ears scratched and be petted on his head and will give you a 'head butt' when he wants attention. He's even become a lap baby!!

There's always hope for your kitty, just be patient and go slowly and I'm sure she will come around.

It will take time... Give Bubba time to learn to trust you. Don't force yourself on her or force her into being held.. In time, she will learn and come around.
