I have a cat that has bad allergies, I am feeding him of a stainless bowl. He is one Purina One "Sensative Systems". Does anyone have anymore suggestions on what I can do, or some good food that helps allergies?

The only food that CJ is able to eat is Science Diet D/D Green Pea and Duck. Every single other food did not agree with his precious little sensitive tummy, and even this food doesn't agree with him sometimes. Science Diet also has Z/D which is supposedly good for cats with allergies - did nothing for CJ, but I know it has worked for many other cats. Both of these you can get through a vet only.....or maybe online(?). They will be more expensive than the Purina One.

I feed my dogs eaglepack and it is about $1 per lb, so I am fine with price, just wondering what would be a good food. I am just scared about the by products in Science Diet to be feeding that, although I know Purina also has by products, that is one reason I am changing.

Science Diet is considered a "premium" cat food and most vets recommend it. I'm sure whatever byproducts it has are far better than the by products in Purina One. Tubby was 18 1/2 when he died, and the only food he got his entire life was Science Diet. Peanut is almost 18 and the only food she has ever gotten her entire life is Science Diet. How bad can the by products be?![]()

I am not going to argue over foods, although I know its a heated subject. But I do have my opinions on why vets recommend Science Diet and its not because its a premium food in my opinion. But I am glad to hear that it has worked for you.

Your vet can put him on Feline Z/D, a hypoallergenic food that has really helped my cat, Mau. It's $42 a ten-pound bag, but when you think of the cost of drycleaning the down comforter even once... It's very tasty--in fact my other three cats always want to "eat at Mau's," but that gets mucho expensive.
Question...has the vet diagnosed it as allergies and to what substance? Allergies can be from food, pollen, and lots of things.
At one time we thought Dusty might have had a food allergy and tried IVD duck and peas, but it can only be purchased through a vet. Turned out she wasn't allergic to her food, but it was worth a try. She just turned 16 last month, and we've come to the conclusion she's obsessive compulsive or slightly senile.
Good Luck
