I am just beside myself!!!

I have some very disturbing news!!! I cannot even begin to fathom what happened!! Today, I was outside with Loki, And Duke, who was on his Dog run, we use this when he wants to play outside for a while. Anyways, Loki ran across the Back yard chassing a grasshopper, and all of a sudden Duke broke off of his run, and took off after loki! Before i could even Register in my mind what was happening, duke had Loki in his mouth Shaking him!!!! I just screamed, horrified!!! I have no Idea why Duke did this, him and Loki have been Pals since Loki was 10 weeks old!!! I cannot look at my dog, I am so Disgusted , upset, and just plain confused!!

Loki was my Pride and Joy, I have never had a cat as awsome as him. He will forever be my Heart kitty!!

Duke's chasing instinct just took over I think - he saw something run fast, I am sure he didn't realize it was Loki.

All I can hope for is Loki went quickly....Poor Loki and poor you!

this is so tragic...I hope someone else can offer some understanding, because I just don't have words...I just hope that Loki was gone before he realized what was happening....

He was just a year old or so....just heartsick

Wow thats horrible I got goose bumps allover after reading this. Thats so sad. I highly doubt duke tried to hurt him but it was instinct of a dog... I hope the poor kitty didnt feel any pain and went to the bridge quick!

I cannot stop crying!! My son is a huge mess, as Loki slept with him every night. so Putting my son to be tonight was very hard! Mocha has been meowing non stop all night, she is so lost without her Loki!

Oh I am so sorry. I can't imagine the horrible tragedy of seeing this happen. You're all in my prayers. I loved seeing your photos of Loki - he was such a special kitty.

I remember how Loki and Mocha just hit it off right away. The last thread you posted about hiking was wonderful.

Loki, play at the Bridge...you were there before you know it, but there are furbabies there to greet you and settle you down a bit.

Please send a sign to your family - they are heartbroken. They love you so much. Send the human kitten a dream of you, a nice one, so he can sleep.

OMG. This is just so horrible. Did Duke maybe mistake Loki for another animal or something??? Ugh. My mom's dog Maija had done the same kind of thing to one of our cats, Cherise. Cherise had been with us from way before we even had Maija. We never really knew what happened to set off Maija, but I know it changed how my mother viewed Maija forever afterward. She never forgave her, and distanced herself entirely. It was sad for all involved.

I'm just so sorry to hear about Loki. I remember the first pictures of him, and how he adored you. This is just so sad. Play hard at the bridge Loki baby... we all will miss you.

I know how you feel. The same thing happened to my cat Salem about 6 months ago with gracie. I learned that she only chases them outside so I do not allow her and my cats to be outside together. She seems to be very trustworthy with my kittens though. I'm soo sorry about what happened! It is so hard to loose a pet in such a tragic way.
