A couple questions EDIT lamb and rice Q

I'm currently feeding Molli Iams in the small kibble. Sam turns 1 in August and I figured I'd start switching him to adult food. Is it too early? Also, I'd like to switch Molli to the regular sized kibble so she can eat the same as Sam. Do you think the regular size kibble is too big... or will she be able to eat it fine?

Sorry these are probably stupid questions. I tend to worry about little things like this.

id say your fine switching over..malakai has been on adult food his whole life..what breed is molly? im sure she will be able to eat the regular sized kibble just fine

Molli is a 5 pound toy poodle mix. Doesn't it depend with breeds though? I know great danes need special feeding when they are puppies because they grow alot in a short time.

I think it would be fine to switch Sam to an adult food & to switxh Molly to the same food. The bigger kibble will actually be better for teeth cleaning anyways.
If she has dental problems she may not be able to eat it but I'd try it. Worse case is you'd have to get hre her own food again.

oh i thought she was bigger if your not comfortable feeding her the regular size theres the littel bits in adult also i belive

you can keep both on small sized kibble adult formula and they´ll do just fine

Thanks. Molli does have some dental problems. I think she acctually still has some puppy teeth that she has to get removed and somewhat of an underbite and tarter problems. But I don't think that will effect how she eats.

EDIT: I probably woulden't feed sam small kibble because he practically inhales his food and it's a choking hazard. So I think I will put both on reagular size kibble. Thanks for the replies!

We went to the store and they don't have regular Iams. So I got Iams Lamb and Rice formula so now that what we will feed him. What's the difference? Is lamb and rice not as good as regular food?

When I bought Iams I always got the Lamb and rice, I don't think its any better/worse, just a different variety. I didn't look into it that much either though *shrugs*

To be honest and answer your question, all of the Iams formulas are poor quality. :/ Of course, it is a step above Ol Roy and such, and I know you're a teenager. I definitely recommend begging your Mom to switch them over to at least Nutro (and other similar brands that are available at pet stores - avoid grocery store brands!), though, they have good formulas that are much more nutritional and higher quality for your pups. I know you love them, and of course you are doing the best you can for them, but the cost of Iams is very comparable to Nutro Natural Choice... just a few dollars more, especially since both of your dogs are small breeds.

Also, no size kibble will help dental problems. Kibble sticks to the back of their teeth after they're done eating, which will cause more dental issues if anything. I recommend brushing their teeth daily and offering them good dental chews (such as Greenies & similar products) and looking into raw meaty bones.

There are no petstores near us. I know Iams is poor quality... I feel really guilty about it. They have petsmart 35 miles from here, and I could ask my mom about switching them to Nutro. (though she'd probably say no) I don't get allowence, say I can't pay for it myself.

I brush Molli's teeth everyday and occasionally give her and Sam raw hides. I need to start brushing Sam's, too....
