Mango's 55g tank just blew up!! *crying*

at about 2:30am I heard this loud bam & leaking water. There is water everywhere!!

I moved Mango to a 20g that I have. He can hardly turn around in it. I have no idea where I'm going to find 500+ to buy a new tank. All I've been doing is crying.. I'm so stressed out. I can't type anymore...

Oh no! I'm so sorry his tank blew up. How did that happen? Poor Mango. Perhaps you can find a second hand one?

Sorry to hear that. For now you'll be ok with a large rubbermaid tote so he has room.

Just try to focus on the fact that Mango has come through ok. I agree, look for a rubbermaid or something similar for now, to give him room. It will work out.

Mango is a foot long fish & requires warm water. so I cannot put him into a tote as the heater will melt the plastic.

Do you have an extra bathtub??? You could put him in there with the heater until you find another tank? Wish I could be of more help!

I don't know if they still have it, but I got my 55 gallon tank with heater and other supplies at Wal-Mart for $150. I had to buy the stand separately. $150 is a lot better than $500+. Hope that helps.

oooo Wal-Mart!! Why didn't I think of that earlier!!!! 150 for the tank & 150 for the stand, I can do that!!! ok not yet, but soon.

I wish I had 1 bathtub lol. I'm renting a small apt in a house & there is only enough room for a small shower stall.

I've been thinking about it & I've decided 100% not to go second hand. The 55g was 2ed hand & it only lasted me 5yrs! My 30g is a hand me down from my mother & its about 30yrs old, if not more & its in great shape!

I honestly cannot afford for a 2ed hand tank to blow up with me not being there. Think of Mango as if he was a puppy & how much you love your puppy. I love Mango like that. Sure he hates my guts & is fairly stupid, but I love him to death.

Oscar, the Tiger Oscar I had before Mango, I spent nearly 1000.00 on her in 4yrs (I had the money then, I'm on my own now & don't have much extra money for anything big.. but that wont stop me). She became ill & I did everything to try to save her.. then when she fell ill again, I had decided it was enough & she didn't deserve to go through more stressful treatments. I put her down (broke my heart, but she passed quietly & quickly in my hands).
