Question for owners of white dogs re: eye stains

Mack's face is white and he is getting stained right in the wrinkle that goes below his eye. Warm water and a wash cloth will not get it off and it seems to be getting worse, even though we wipe it off almost every day. What do you do to clean those stains?

BTW, his eyes are fine and no infection or anything.

Is there a product that works? Perhaps some of our groomers can help me.

Just thought I would point you into Kfarmr's direction, I remember reading a thread that she replied to about a bichons eyes but I cant find it, I find alot of customers that come in have tried alot and dont have many good things to say about them so maybe its just trial and error until you find one suitable?

I can't find that thread now either (I thought it was in Dog Health). In any case , Kay had responded to a post about tear stains and had posted this link to Angel Eyes , indicating that her aunt who is a groomer had recommended it to someone. Anyway Logan, I have sent away for a bottle, but have not received it yet. I will let you know if it works. Other than that, I gently clean Ginger's face with hydrogen peroxide and a toothbrush every other day. It would actually work better if I did it every day, but there always seems to be something that gets in the way and it usually turns out to be every other day. It does help to make the staining lighter in color. So far nothing has worked great for me, but we haven't really experimented that much.

ETA: Oh Karen, I just saw your post. There was actually another thread after that (maybe a month ago), but I can't seem to find it.

Thanks, ladies. I think I will start with the peroxide on a q-tip if we can get him to hold still long enough.

I definitely need to get some new pictures of him for you. He is changing so much, especially in his face!!

Let me know about the Angel Eyes, if you will. The link went to a picture, but no more information.

Yes, Angels Eyes works for sure!

My aunt uses it in her grooming salon as someone else stated and my grandmother tried it on her Maltese. No more stails for them!

I have been lucky with Bella - no tear stains or watering, but that is more of a problem with the minis and toys in the poodle world. One of my apricot toys had sort of watery eyes but I just kept his face shaved close so there was no staining. Of course Mack's face doesn't need to be shaved! LOL!

    Thanks, everyone!

Pam, I don't think anyone could shave Mack's wrinkly face if they wanted to! LOL!!!!!

He looks so sad! He was sleeping and the sound of my camera woke him up.

Aren't those freckles underneath his eyes cute?? We are now seeing six tiny teeth on the bottom jaw, too. I guess those "fangs" will come out soon!!!

Miss Hoppy wants to know if he thinks he's part bunny, as baseboard customization is a specialty of hers ...

What she doesn't know is that THE rocking chair (over which my siblings and I will inevitably battle when Dad is done with it) has a couple toothmarks about in the center of the wide left-side armrest. These are a memorial to Butchie, the bulldog Dad had when he was growing up. They are so deep, the intervening 60+ years of hard use has not worn them away yet!

Aww, he looks so cute all curled up with that little tongue sticking out (I love that little tongue ). But, Logan you know Mack deserves his own thread. Or at the very least you should put Pictures Added on your title. I am sure a lot of people would love to see this handsome guy if they knew he was here.
