    My first two rescue Bettas

I only intended on going to Petcetera to pick up some dog things, I swear! But while I was there, I decided to take a look at the Bettas and well.. we all know how it ends. I came home with two. I actually only wanted one because he had fungus and would surely die if he was left with them. When I went up to the counter, they told me he had fungus and I told them I wanted to treat him. They asked if I wanted another one as well, as the first one would probably die. Soooo I grabbed the next sickest betta I could find. He isn't doing too bad.. he just needs to have his fins heal.

Here are my two rescues (who I'll be adopting out as soon as they're healthy again)

    Gin

And Tonic (smidge of fin rot and fungus)

See the reddish patch on his body? The fungus is covering that area but you can't really see the fungus in the pic.

I don't expect Tonic to make it through the night but the least I could do was give him a bigger home and clean water until he passes.

Gin's doing pretty well.. he's having a blast flaring at the betta beside him. Tonic's still alive but he doesn't look well. He's laying flat on his side now and his breathing looks pretty laboured.

I hope he makes it. Maybe he should stay in shallow water so he can get to the surface to breath easily.

i hope the poor little fish lives. i hate that petstores think so little of them. i was at Petsmart yesterday and wondered into the betta section. i told myself "don't look! just walk away."

Tonic didn't make it He died sometime today while I was at work.

Gin, on the other hand, is doing great! He's having a blast flaring at the other bettas.

I'm sorry to hear that Tonic didn't make it , Atleast he probably died more comfortable than he would have if you didn't rescue him. He sure was a cute little guy.
Its great to hear that Gin is doing so well!

Sorry to hear. At least he'll have somebody nice to talk about to the other fishies in the rainbow puddle.
