    Stranger

As I passed through the Tuscumbia bottoms this morning on my way to work I saw two shiny dots in the road ahead of me. It was 5:00 am, and I still had more than an hour's drive, and even though I am a stickler for getting to work on time stopped.

The kitty looked to be full grown but still young perhaps. I could tell that he had until then had it pretty rough, but other than extreme lethargy he was sitting up and alert.

I returned with him to my house and left him in a bathroom, after which I resumed to my journey. I would be late to work, but in God's eyes all life is precious so work would have to wait.

Even then I requested the day off and after talking shop with my boss he agreed to let me work from home. I delivered the cat to my veterinarian before noon. The prognosis was as I feared: feline AIDS.

I knew him for less than a day. He was a beautiful orange tabby. He is running free at the Rainbow Bridge.

You are amazing in all that you do for any stray you happen upon. What you did for this kitty was the best that you could do.

    RIP "Stranger"

Thank you for the siggy, Michelle!

    Zoee:

    Remember Taz?

    All grown up now ...

By the way, I do NOT keep him in a cage or kennel, except for when I am away from home; but he still gravitates toward the kennel even when I am home. It's as if he feels safer in there ...

Oh dear. What a sad situation. Thank you for looking after these critters and doing what you can to help all of them. You did the loving thing to help Stranger. He won't suffer with that disease any longer. I do miss your posts around here.

Dan, you did the right thing for that poor kitty, but it's still heartbreaking.

    Rest in Peace, sweet boy!

I remember you telling us about Taz, he looked so cute as a pup, and now is fully grown, it seems. Does he get along with the rest? Isn't he the one who chewed up anything near him?

Are you going to spill the beans here, or is it a secret?

Thats a shame that that Owesome Orangie was out in the wild , all on his own, and that ill.
I wonder if his people knew that Stranger was ill and dumped him, or was Stranger feral all his life??
Either way he found a friend , a friend who was kind enough to get Stranger to a vet and try to help him. Its sad when you want to take in a cat and they are too ill ,like Ebony Beau Tubster, Gem, Karina and Charcoal.
Strangers an Animal Angel now, and will be there to thank you for the one day that you had together.

Taz is still a very bad pup.

Now I got Grainger. He's just like Taz. Always barking and chewing and keeping me awake at night.

I'm sorry to read about Stranger's passing but he's a stranger no more at the Rainbow Bridge. He'll finally get the love and respect that he deserves. RIP, Stranger.

Well, I had thought about giving him a name, but I couldn't think about that. I knew the good people at Pet Talk wouldn't disappoint.

Yes, I do remember your Taz. He has grown into quite a handsome boy. I think it goes with the name that he is a "bad boy". LOL My Taz is too old now, but he can still be a pain, only now it's more cranky.

No matter. What does matter is that someone cared enough to take the time to help him. He was able to feel the warmth of the human touch and he took that w/him to the Bridge.

Rest in peace, dearest Stranger, and God bless you, Willow Oak, for looking after him and giving him love.
I meant," said Ipslore bitterly, "what is there in this world that truly makes living worthwhile?"
    Death thought about it.
CATS, he said eventually. CATS ARE NICE.

Rest in Peace, Stranger-no-more. At least you some care in life. And perhaps there is a young child up there at The Rainbow Bridge, perhaps a victim of human AIDS in Africa, just looking for a cat to love for eternity, and you can be with that child now.

That's my little wish for you.
