Luna is throwing up every day atm

My poor girl! A couple of days ago, she started vomiting, always liquid and cat grass, but no food. My guess is that she's having problems getting rid of a hairball, and I already gave her some Petromalt (malt paste).

Another thought was that her belly is a bit upset from the antibiotics she recently had to take due to her latest UTI. I think I better call the vet tomorrow, even though I think that there's not much she can do atm.

Apart from the vomiting, Luna acts absolutely normal, she's playing and eating, and seems to be relaxed and happy.

I hope she's not seriously ill.

Kirsten, let us know what the vet says. Poor little thing. She certainly has had a hard time, lately, hasn't she?

    Get well soon, Luna!!!!

Poor Luna! I don't know much about hairballs, except how my guys get them, and Allen has always been one t o give me the lliquidy stuff. Its the start of the hairball season, so the girls will be making quite a few of them.

Do you get Hills canned food in Germany? As much as I don't like the Hills canned food, their Hairball canned food works wonders. I stockedd up on it while it was on sale and give everyone one can every other day (or even less) A little goes a long way with this stuff, and keep in mind that the hairball food WILL cause runny poo since its basically a laxative.

Kirsten, when Luna is on an antibiotic, do you ever give her yogurt or acidphilus(??)to keep her tummy and the rest of the GI tract happy?? The antibiotic, besides getting rid if the infection, also destroys the " good" bugs in the gut. The yogurt or acidphilus help maintain the "good" bugs. I will open up a capsule of the acidphilus and mix it with the wet food. Usually have no problems and it gets in with the food. Human doctors are starting to recommend this for humans, too. Will say prayers that Luna will be her OLD self soon!!!

    Thanks everyone!

I called my vet yesterday, and she gave me some Gelusil, and recommended Hill's i/d. She also thinks that a hairball could be the problem, so I hope the Petromalt will work sooner or later.

Kim, Hill's canned food is available here, but I haven't seen the hairball version yet. I will ask my vet.

HI Kirsten!! Has the med helped Luna and has she stopped vomiting? The vet should not let the vomiting go on too long, Luna can get dehydrated!!

    No vomiting yesterday!

And I don't think that there's a risk of dehydrating at this point. The last week, Luna has puked "only" once per day (always in the evening), and she's eating and drinking normally.

Sorry to be a little late on the response here Kirsten, but I'm glad to hear that it isn't anything serious with Luna and that she is doing better.

My guys always throw up the liquid form a day or 2 before the actually hairball comes out.

Kirsten I hope Luna has managed to shift the hairball and is now feeling much better.
Colette doe s fair bit of liquid vomiting and eats lots of grass - but she's contantly grooming Cleo as a sort of comfort thing I think, so she's hard at work with that tongue and needs to get rid of it somehow. She's always been a "chucker"
Since I started feeding her Hills Science diet Furball Senior dry food some time ago (alongside her usual wet) she has been coping much better.
I haven't seen the wet (canned) version, but then as it's vet-supplied I haven't asked, didn't know about it.
The other thing and I'm sure you know this, is a little olive oil or similar mixed into the food?

    Hope you're feeling better Luna!
