Signs of blood
My best friend's cat sleeps in the bathroom at night in their house. For the last few weeks they have noticed splotches of blood around where the cat may have laid at.
Not alot of blood but very small spots. Not enough to indicate a wound or emergency conditions.
The cat was declawed last month. It had 6 toes so the declawing was more "difficult" than usual. The vet made note of this to pay "special" attention while it heals. The cat has also been fixed over 3 months ago. So far that is the ONLY surgery the cat has had.
The blood started showing up AFTER the declawing and stitches removed. However, there are NO bloody paw prints or even indications of any blood paws. The vet checked it out and the surgery has healed nicely. There is no sign of blood coming from this area.
The vet did notice the cat had fleas. It is an indoor cat and hasn't been exposed to many fleas. It could have gotten them in the waiting room of the vet's office for all that is known so far. The vet treated the cat for fleas and assigned "Flea dirt" as the cause for the mysterious blood stains.
My question is: Has anyone else had this happen to their cat? My cat has a notorious ear pimple issue that sometimes leads to finding spots of blood in the sink where she may sleep. My friend's cat has no pimples.
My opinion is that the blood seen is the "flea dirt". The cat has been treated with antibiotics and Advantix for now. Has anyone else had a similar issue and it NOT be "flea dirt"? I just would feel better to let my friend know what else to keep an eye on in case this isn't the real cause. Thanks.
Scooby, Shaggy the "Dogs", Ms. Thang the "Cat" and introducing Measley Weasle "The Ferret".
