I'm so sorry for you loss.
It's really hard losing a relative. My family has a history of longevity. My Dad passed at 91, my Grandmother passed at 98, my Grandfather passed at 92 and my Mom who will soon be 82 is healthier than I am.
Talk to him.....he will hear everything you have to say.
