This thread means a lot to me!

I have to ramble on here a little bit so I hope I don't bore you too much. This whole past year has been a very loooong year for me. Today I am celebrating my 40th birthday and I don't even mind turning 40. YAY! I am just so grateful to be here celebrating. You see last year after many many months of being in pain and having many tests done and then finally a biopsy I got a call on my 39th birthday about 45 minutes before I was supposed to meet my parents for dinner. Yes, it was the doctor. There was bad news, it was cancer and I needed to come in first thing in the morning. I remember hanging up and just sitting there stunned. I finally called Alden who was at work and told him and we were both scared but he just kept telling me everything would be just fine. I couldn't call my sister because she was on a cruise on her honeymoon and there was no way I would be a bummer on her special trip anyway. I did miss being able to call her because we always talk everything out. I then got a call from my mom asking if I was ready for dinner. I told her I still needed little bit of time to get ready. She knew something was wrong so I told her. Do you know how hard it is to tell people you love and know love you back such bad news. I hated it. Me and my parents went to dinner but I have to tell you it was pretty gloomy. I thought so anyway. I felt like the 3 of us were trying to be cheerful but beneath the surface was just gloom.

Today I am healthy and happy and will be having a birthday dinner with my whole family. Alden, Brandon, his girlfriend Ashley, Lea (my sis) and her husband Greg, my best friend Norma and her daughter Dee Dee and last but definitely not least my parents who I know spent many days and nights worrying about me and would not leave town for one of their many travels until they knew I was well. I love all of these people very much and don't know what I would do without them.

I also consider you, my fellow pet talkers my friends and want to thank you for all of your support through the last year. I did a lot of talking about my problems on here and you guys were the best. I can never thank you enough.

What a fantastic day this is! I am so happy. I will be spending the day with my special birthday present, Tori and my special girl, Katie and then getting together with family this eveing. What could be better?!?!?!?! Hmmm....maybe if all of you couldn join us....hehehehe...wouldn't that be fun!!!!

Robin, I didn't see this thread but did respond to the one started by Dogz. You are so special that two threads have been started for you! I just read what you wrote here and it brought tears to my eyes. I can tell from your posts what a sweet person you are and can only imagine how devastated your family was with such news. Thankfully that is all behind you now and your future is bright! I know many of us Pet Talkers would love to be celebrating right along with you 'in person' but unfortunately we can only do it through our keyboards! Have a wonderful day and just know that we are all there in thought anyway!

I am so glad to have gotten to meet you at the Pet Talk meetings. You have had a tough year and yet you have come through a stronger person obviously since you can share it and rejoice in the fact that you have come through it! I hope this is a very happy birthday - how could it not be with your family and friends to help celebrate and that special new puppy and Katie too!

Thought I would post just a few pics here. It has been a great day so far. I'm even going to put a few pics of me here. I look awful and I'm still in my nightgown...BUT...I'm HAPPY!!

This is a gift from Alden. He is so rotten. Do you see that wrapping job. It was trash bags and tons of duct tape done on purpose. He handed me the scissors to help me out.

When I got it open...more wrapping paper, this time christmas wrapping and more duct tape...ugh!

I just took a couple more pics of the pups. I think we wore them out playing this morning and look at them now. They both went to their crates on their own and are sound asleep and even look like they are laying in the same position almost.
