Dearest Smudge, what a beautiful Tuxedo lady you are! Your black and white fur is so pretty and looks so soft with such interesting patterns. And what a sweet face you have, with those lovely big golden eyes! Those great photos show how utterly gorgeous you are! And is that an orange friend in the back of the second picture? I wish I could reach through the screen and over to Peoria, AZ to pet you both! I can't, of course, but I know your loving and beloved Meowmie will pet you for me .
And what a touching story you have to tell! You and your three littermates were born in the yard behind the house. One day your Meowmie-to-be noticed your mom and siblings were gone and you were alone, so she brought you inside. (She never did see your mom or siblings again, and we hope and pray that somehow they all were rescued and came out all right, too.) You quickly became good friends with Grand-Meowmie, napping and watching TV together for hours. Then, after she passed away, you and Meowmie became close friends. You stlil spend much of your time in Grand-Meowmie's old room, but every day you greet Meowmie and tell her about your night, and she gives you some nice stinky cat-food to eat. You and she, and the orange kitty too, I'm sure, all love each other dearly, don't you. What a delightful love-filled home you share!
Congratulations, darling Smudge, on being chosen today's Cat of the Day! We hope you and Meowmie and your orange kitty pal and all your family and friends are enjoying a fine celebration, full of fun and lovies and all your favorite games and treats. And we think your kitty mom and siblings, wherever they are, are rejoicing for you, too!
I meant," said Ipslore bitterly, "what is there in this world that truly makes living worthwhile?"
Death thought about it.
CATS, he said eventually. CATS ARE NICE.
