I meant," said Ipslore bitterly, "what is there in this world that truly makes living worthwhile?"
Death thought about it.
CATS, he said eventually. CATS ARE NICE.
-- Sir Terry Pratchett (1948—2015), Sourcery
This, unfortunately, is nothing new. I was a child support & paternity specialist in the state office for 31 years and have seen this more times than I care to remember. It's a way for the abuser to gain full control over the abused. It's a factor in family violence cases - do what I say or I'll hurt your pet. Not wanting to see a loved pet hurt or worse, the abused individual will give in often with being on the receiving end of violence. There is a law here in New Jersey that allows the court to determine who gets to keep the pet in cases of divorce and/or family violence. It's a start anyway. There's still a long way to go as far as legislation and court rules to put an end to all abuse.
FIND A PURPOSE IN LIFE.....BE A BAD EXAMPLE
