Thanks, she may have a hard road ahead, but is loved by many, so all the prayers we can add would help. Her husband has created a carepage for her, it's here: Bea - you have to log in, but I was able to use the log-in I created for Johanna's niece Samantha - it's the same company that does the pages all over, I guess!
My mom hasn't felt "like herself" for a couple of years. She is 77 - had an MRI and bloodwork, all of which was excellent, thank God.
Today we followed up with the neurologist. She is in preliminary stages of a Parkinson's type of syndrome.
It certainly could have been far worse, and the doc said that because it is so late in onset, she likely won't have disruptive symptoms for another 12 years. Mom asked him about how this affected her likelihood of needing long-term care, and he said it is way too early to be concerned about that.
We're each a bit gobsmacked...but prayers for her would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Prayers to all those who need them.
I'm asking for a PT miracle tonight...
My high school Economics teacher posted a suicide note on Facebook, and it's been over an hour. It took some time before the police were able to find him and now the police and his mother are at his house. I don't know what's going on right now, but I need to ask that you will all pray that he is okay.
He was one of my favorite teachers, and he has many, many students who love him. Everyone is uniting on his Facebook wall, expressing how much he means to them. I really hope we're not too late, so if you could pray for him, I would really appreciate it.
You have my prayers. Do keep us updated.
Last I heard they found him, I think he's okay. He was on his way to the hospital, took a bunch of pills. If I hear anything else, I will let you all know.
I would like to ask for prayers and positive thoughts for my dad. He is having back surgery this morning. It's supposed to be a 4 hour operation. I'm very nervous and anxious about it. Hoping all goes well and that it will be a success. Thanks!
Lots of prayers for your dad, Robin! and for all Pettalkers.
Prayers for Bea, for your teacher, Bri, and for your dad, Robilee.
Thank you for the prayers for my mom. She has to wait 8 - 9 months to see a specialist that will give a definite diagnosis, but today she should be getting meds to help. She will feel much better if she starts feeling like herself again.:)
All prayers to all who need them.
Two things. I am having a very hard time with sleep, which is a side effect of one of the medications I'm taking. The specific effect is very vivid, detailed dreams. I wake up more tired than when I went to bed and it's affecting my work performance.
The other is a little different. My oldest niece (29) and my nephew (26) are both getting married this year. My grandmother passed away in 2001 but I know she would be delighted about this and she would love both of her grandchildren-in-law. She loved a good party and I wish she could be with us. The other person I am missing very much is my best friend, who died about 2 1/2 years ago. It is very hard for me to imagine these two weddings without her there. She was a friend of my entire family and we all miss her a lot. But I miss her the most because we're the same age. My nephew's wedding is first, in June.
Thank you very much,
elyse
Elyse, you'll be in our prayers. Perhaps there's some little memento you could bring to both events so that in a way they are part of the celebrations?
GOOD IDEA! I am an ordained minister/chaplain - would love to see prayer requests here - will pray for all of you.
It's been awhile since I've been on the site and in particular since I've visited this thread. I feel selfish that I am here to request prayers and advice from you all, my PT family when I haven't been very good at supporting you all myself.
The last few years have been hard on my family because of various bad events and now, we have been stricken with another hard hit.
My uncle had a major stroke on March 17th and he has been in the hospital since. His only progress has been to move his eyes. He has locked in syndrome. It's when you are aware of what is going on around you but cannot move your body. He's on a ventilator and feeding tube and has had a low grade fever since the stroke happened. We've been praying hard in the family and in the last week or so he's been breathing on his own, very laborously, for a few hours at a time so I guess that is progress. I am asking you to pray for him and my aunt who is so devistated. What is worse is that they have no insurance and she doesn't know where to turn for help. Does anyone know of an association or center that can help her financially? They are in Brooklyn, NY. She is sure she is going to lose her job too because she needs to be at the hospital to talk to the drs. to make decisions about his care etc.. and has been taking a lot of time off. More than my prayers I don't know what to offer so I am asking for your prayers as well. Thank you.
