And yes, phesina - we lost power for a few hours Saturday, and it was then very cold, with a bitter fierce wind and snow, while folks at the base of the mountain just got rain!
Sorry I have not yet gotten today's Pet, Dog and Cat up! Today was every stranger than a typical Monday in Covid time, and we got more packages on the afternoon stuck than the morning, and even some on the evening truck - which is just supposed to pick up outgoing mail! Over 110 packages - and we are a tiny Post Office! As it is so late in the day, I will update them to be tomorrow's honorees. Sigh.
Today's Cat and Dog of the Day are up, and Pet are up now.
Dagnabbit - another busy, busy day - gilt my flu shot, but anyway, will not be able to get the pets up until much later tonight. Sigh. Sorry, folks!

Thanks, it was very quiet, not many people came, so low sales. A cold, grey day, and maybe not enough publicity, but I was there anyway!

So busy today, more than a 120 packages in, and probably 30-40 outgoing! So sorry, folks, I will update the pets for tomorrow. I still have work to do for today, even correcting mistakes I know I made in the rush!

Just set my computer up for the frst time since last night. We got somewhere over two feet of snow last night into this mprning and throughout the day, and I have been unable to even get to the Post Office, as my car battery is dead, a neighbor who was going to jumpstart my car had to leave before we were sufficiently shoveled out, and so I am (still) awaiting AAA. So I will not be updating the pets today, but will for tomorrow. Literally the snow was over my knees when I first went out to shovel this morning, and another foot fell after that! So sorry everyone.

Oh dear - another usy day, and now I have the last Ceramics studio before Christmas to go to. I will update the pets for tomorrow late tonight, okay folks? Such an emotional rollecoaster of a time, an so many packages, but at the least we are getting things to people in time for Christmas!

Dagnabbit - it's so late in the day, I will just post today's Pet, Dog and Cat of the Day for tomorrow's honorees at midnight. I slept until nearly noon today, and have been behind ever since. Sorry everyone. This has really been an exhausting month on so many levels.
But everyone here is healthy, and safe, and for that we are grateful.

Just learned of the death of a younger friend (maybe 50 years old, but younger than me, and a mom of school-age kids) who died suddenly of a heart attack. Call loved ones, tell them they are loved.
Dear Karen, I'm so sorry about your friend. My deepest sympathy to you and her family and friends and all who love her and grieve her and will miss her. Hugs to all.

That was always a tradition growing up - open and share the little jar - on ryekrisp - of my grandfather's special pickled herring recipe. One of Dad;s regrets in life was not getting that recipe from him before Grandpa died.Quote:

The sursild (pickled herring) along with the gravadlax (cured salmon with mustard/dill sauce) were/are my favorites on the julbord! I remember, as a child, going with my father to the (then) predominantly Scandinavian immigrant NYC neighborhood where we once lived, where I was born, Bay Bridge, Brooklyn, to shop at the local butcher, baker, fishmonger, grocery store for the traditional Christmas foods, supplies. The whole herrings were stored in a big, wooden barrel at the back of the store. Back then you had to fillet them yourself. Now you can buy them online, all cleaned and filleted, ready to prepare. Sadly, most Scandinavians have left Bay Ridge so much of the shopping is done online now, not to mention having to make so many of the dishes myself. A lot of work, considering my parents and only sibling are no longer with us, all my remaining family back in Norway and Sweden, the only guests being just Junji and myself.
