You know something is up with weather patterns when it's December and you still have dandelions blooming in the yard.
If this is such a happy time of the year, then why don't I feel happy????? :(
Lots of people struggle this time of year, especially because of the lack of sunlight, and growing darkness. Severe case are known as Seasonal The "holiday" season also tends to remind people of loved ones who have since passed away, or traditions no longer held - it is very difficult for many people.
See if you can find a "daylight" lamp to shine around you especially in the afternoons and early evenings.
I most of all, remember that you are loved, no matter what. Sending you hugs!
God loves you no matter what
Thanks Karen and issop. As I've gotten older, the "bout of the holiday blues" seems to hit every year, tho this year it struck earlier than usual. Maybe that means it will be over earlier than usual??? It will pass and I'll be fine. It's not the lack of sunlight that is the issue, but more of things and people (and pets) that are no more - for whatever reason. :(
Pomtzu, especially so soon after losing Sparky, it is understandable. But we are hear for you, no matter what!
Now, for a completely random though, I have just finished a toasted cheese sandwich with share cheddar and dill pickles - YUMMY! Whay have I not thought of this before?
(Okay, many years of not being able to eat cucumbers has a lot to do with it, but still ... yum!)
I think I know what Mike got me for Christmas, but I hope I can keep it as a good guess!

About the holiday blues?
When I start to think about the holidays there are times when I feel like crap, but sometimes it's better to do little things, as painful as they may seem, to get me out of my funk.
I want a good tamale late at night, it would remind me of the times my family stayed up late to make them.
I sing Christmas tunes - what lyrics I know of them - Silent Night was my mom's fave, she'd sing that and it would really touch me.
I'll go out to a store where there are a bunch of people, just so I don't feel alone.
I'll bake something quick, like the recipe off the back of Quaker Oats - those oatmeal cookies are FN' good.
I stop and think of all the people who don't have it as good as I do.
I don't have as many problems in comparison.
I am thankful for another year on the planet.
I am thankful for a warm house, bed, hot food, clean clothes.
I am thankful I haven't had to live thru the aftermath of a superstorm.
I am thankful..........
Oh Richard........you will love this one!
Just when I thought these vulture lawyers that run all these t.v. ads encouraging people to sue for whatever nonsense they can think of had run out of material/ideas - I saw a new one today.
Now it's injury from steel ladders, desks and chairs! What next???? - foot injury because the shoe of a certain manufacturer didn't run true to size and you got blisters??? :p
That's just the way I feel too. Christmas is built up to be such a family time, that it's hard for those who are scare on the family and friends department. I don't drink but this time of year makes me wish I could get drunk and stay that way until Jan 2nd. (I want to sleep through all the football games on tv too)
