I so enjoyed reading about life for Lizzie. While reading, I feel like I was experiencing some of this for myself and it made me cry. But, it is also wonderful that nobody in the family was hurt and that the house was fine. I am glad to know that the streets of Metairie are being protected. I am so sorry this happened and appreciate the cat's eye view of it all.
I hope that Lizzie and her siblings are now feeling better and staying safe. The humans sound like such wonderful and caring people. Yes, I also think about the pets that still do not have homes.
Thank you so much for the story. It was interesting, clever and educational, too. Lizzie sounds like one terrific queen of the household. :) She is beautiful also.
Lizzie,we Are So Relieved To See That Your, your Family And Fellow Cats Survived That Awful Storm.
We Hope That What The Humans Say About What Doesnt Kill You Makes You Stronger Is Right.

Queen Lizzie, I LOVE your story.. Made me want to cry.you all have been through so much.. I know the humans have had a particularly hard time during and after Hurricane Katrina, but I am an animal lover and I felt for everyone of those dogs and kitties that were left behind.. If I had it in my power I would help every single one..but you Lizzie are most beautiful and very resourceful in staying safe. and also keeping track of your kitty sisters... Live well and have a long life.. My eleven cats and 3 dogs will be thinking of you. (because of the hurricane I went out and purchased enough cat carriers for ALL my kitties in case we too have to be evacuated some day.) Loved your long story.
Oh my, what a story Lizzie, it brought tears to my eyes.Thank you for sharing your story. You are a beauty and it looks like you are enjoying yourself in that window. Congratulations on being COTD! I hope your day is special! :)
Lizzie, words fail me after reading your story. What a tale of disaster and survival you told. It warms my heart, however, that you and your fursibs did survive and live to tell all about it. It must have been horribly frightening; the only experience I've ever had with hurricanes is the residual effect, which is bad enough, but to be able to go through it and tell us is simply amazing.
I hope you and your family will never have to have this experience repeated again.
By the way, you are such a "Sleeping Beauty"! Congratulations to a lovely and courageous girl!
Enjoy your COTD day today and every day!
Lizzie, you are such a pretty kitty:) Congrats on being the cat of the day! What an amazing story:)
Lizzie you have been through so much and come through it thankfully. Well done on being cat of the day you are a real heroine ;)
Congrats on being our most special COTD! :) I am so glad that you and your family were re-united with Camille. Your story touched my heart and soul. I hope y'all never have to go through another hurricane. Living in Georgia, we have been through several...I never hesitate to evacuate.I can't even imagine what y'all went through. It was so devastating to all in her path.
I hope that today brings you lots of joy and a few treats. Your furcoat is so beautiful...as are you. Just precious.
May God bless you with good health and lots of kitty adventures. It's been
an honor to meet you this morning.
Love and purrs...Nonie & Star (meow)
Oh Lizzie! What a trial you and your furrsibs and purrents went through. I was holding my breath about Camille until I saw she was ok. It would break my heart to see some of the things I'm sure you have seen.
A most happy COTD to you and to your furrsibs!
What a courageous girl you are Lizzie, thank goodness everyone is OK in your family! You are such a purty calico girl, with such pretty patches of colorful fur!! Congrats to LOVELY LIZZIE!! :) :D :)
Sweet Lizzie, thank you so much for taking the time and effort to write such an informative story about your life. That was a terrible experience that your family went through last year and I was very pleased to hear that you were all reunited with poor Camille when you got back home.
Today is a day for celebration though, because you are honoured to be Cat of the Day! :D I think a great deal of spoiling is in order for you and your sweet fur family! Congratulations, sweetheart.
What a touching story you have shared with us, Lizzie! I am glad you and your family made it through, and I hope the other wayward pets find their guardians but if that is impossible I hope that they are welcomed in to new homes. I have a tortie/calico named Lizette, but we call her your name for short most of the time. Thank goodness you were able to alert your family about the impending disaster and that you kept a cool head. How very queenly, and you deserve to be hand-fed and do just as you please, smart, pretty COD girl! :)
Queen Lizzie we thank your Meowmie for her ability to channel your story to PT. Mew, we also thank Cat of the Day selecting committee for bestowing the honour of "Cat of the Day" for Sunday, 19th of February 2006 on you.
During the time of Hurricane Katrina our daring Sasha the Queen Calico was still with us. Like you she was abused and abandoned; lost her ear tips due to being out in sub-zero weather, plus a mean human kicked her, broke her teeth and caused a hernia. My purrents KatMa & Paw-Paw took her off the mean streets and she had a very good life as Queen of the Palace. They made sure her teeth were repaired and the hernia surgically mended. Then they loved her silly the way your humans love you.
We thank your Meowmie for telling the complete story of how you, your humans and feline siblings got through that terrible, terrible time known as KATRINA. You are absolutely beautiful, a darling who brought tears to my KatMa's eyes because you remind her so much of our late darling, Sasha.
Our fervent wish is that you, dear Lizzie, your feline siblings and your purrents live in safety now and forever, in good health, blessed with happiness, love and and good times.
I, Norman the Cat, King of the Castle, inheritor of Sasha's Palace acknowledge your royality, Queen Lizzie. The world is a better place because of wonderful companion pets of all species. Our humans who love us agree with this because for them a life without a companion pet is just not a good life.
Mew, with thanks to the Cat Goddess Bastet for watching over you and yours during Katrina, lots of hugs & kittykisses and purrs from me, Norman, King of the Castle.
Queen Lizzie, your story does, of course, bring tears to those of us visiting COTD today...so glad that you and your family (feline and other) survived and are once again enjoying each other's love and attention.
There are truly hundreds of animals that were not as fortunate as you...thank goodness you were able to get out in time and then able to return.
We maintain a website dedicated to finding the people these lost animals belong to and helping people find their animals by posting their photos, etc. We hope everyone will share our site of nationwide rescue efforts and pleas.

There are orphaned pets in practically every state in the US.
If any of you reading this can foster or transport, or give $$ to assist those who are, there is still a huge need.
We are glad Lizzie's mom helped share their story. God bless you, Lizzie - we hope you live a long and peaceful life. Because "Every cat should be a happy cat!"

What a wonderful choice you are for our extra special Sunday Cat of the Day honors, beautiful Lizzie!!!:) I was touched to tears, reading your amazing story, of all the many challenges you and your family, human and furry have faced! What a brave and courageous feline you are Lizzie, what a brave and courgeous family, true survivors all! And through it all, it was the unconditional love of family which was the glue that kept you all together!:) Oh, thank goodness you and your family and dear Camille were reunited! That was a cliffhanger!
You and your family and all of the brave Katrina survivors, human and furry, are my inspiration, Lizzie! You may be a seasoned citizen, but you've got the spunk and spirit of a youngster!:) And yes, we all hope and pray that all of the creatures displaced in the aftermath of Katrina, find their way to their guardians or loving forever homes such as yours!
All hail Lizzie, hero survivor, Queen of her Castle and our most deserving, EXTRA special Sunday Cat of the Day! Enjoy your day of honor with your wonderful family, sweet baby girl! I'm sure you'll be treated royally and spoiled shamlessly!:D Hugs and purrrs to you from me and my boys, Mr. B and Oliver!
P.S. I too was the Mom of an Elizabeth, a.k.a Lizzie...never met another before precious you came along!:)
Hello Lizzie,
I loved reading your story. You are super beautiful & brave.
Congratulations on being chosen our CAT OF THE DAY. :)
Such a touching story.Congrats on COTD :)
What can I possibly say after reading your story, sweet Lizzie!!! We are so grateful that you and your family are still together after all you have been thru!!! You grace us as the COTD!!! Have a very special day!!!
I'm using my son's identity (TheKid). I would like to suggest, Lizzie, that you write a book (your Mom will help, as the keys on the computer are rather small), using photographs of you, your siblings, your human family, your home area in Louisiana, and photographs of things mentioned in your story. The book need be no longer than your incredible posting on COTD, for it is so powerful. I'm sure this would be a best seller. Please do this as quickly as possible, while it's still fresh in your darling mind.
From Patricia and her twenty year old cat, Micah, with much admiration.
What a wonderful kitty and what a moving story, you should really send it in to Reader's Digest, you're amazing little Miss Lizzie congrats on your special day!
