i might be the only one here! But no way would i ever breed, i'm not trying to be a party pooper but i don't even want to think about mix breeding
Well...mix breeding is bad...:( I have noooooo clue...maybe...a pomeranian and a husky! that would be a quite unusual combo...it would be called a huskaranian! Lol ok but seriously I would never breed 2 mixes...
Hmm...I would probably breed a Doberman and a Standard Poodle. (A doodle!) Just because that would make a very loyal and intelligent breed. Hopefully some would be hypo allergenic, and a very athletic breed. Of course all the parents and pups would have to be OFA certified.
However I don't condone breeding mixed breeds. They do make good pets, but there's too many unwanted animals out there anyways. (I do forsee, maybe a while down the road, Lab/Shepherd or Lab/Pit mixes to become a breed..they are very popular.)
I'd still like to see a Newfie or a Great Dane get AI by a chihuahua. Just..once.
I'd breed a Old English Sheepdog and a foxhound. I think it'd make a good working/farm dog.
I remember when I was young german shepherds and siberian huskies were my favorite breeds and I thought of getting one of each and breeding them...thought it would be a very neat looking dog.
Then I discovered the huge amount of homeless dogs and I know I would never contribute to that. Plus there's plenty of husky/shepherd mixes to be found on petfinder!
Besides I found the perfect breed for me, siberian huskies...no need to create my own breed.
I know there are lots of homeless dogs out there and it makes me sad this is just a game so i will put some imput into it. two breeds i would like to breed would me collie rough and burnese mountain dog or long coat Chihuahua and pemobroke Corgi and A great dane and a neo Mastiff.
I would NEVER breed any dog, let alone to produce a mixed breed. But hey this is for the fun of it so in my imagination I would love to have a border collie/husky mix!
Now my ultimate dream dog would be a combo of 3 dogs though, border collie, husky & aussie.
Great for any kind of sport for any season!!!!

I have to laugh at some of your combinations, because they actually do exist in Satos. Sometimes we make a game of figuring out what they are.
We've seen Satos that are corgi/lab mixes, pomeranian/cocker spaniel, long hair chihauha/dashsund, shephard/corgi, some of the mixes are really really strange.
For those who don't know, Satos are mixed breed street dogs on the island of Puerto Rico. There are several rescue groups on the island, who are working to get more people to spay/neuter, and stop the incredible cruelty there.
Meanwhile, they catch the dogs, nurse them back to health, and send them to several stateside shelters to be adopted. The shelters do well with them because they tend to be small mixed breed dogs, incredibly smart, and very loving.
Now before anyone asks the thousand dollar question - I'll answer it. Local dogs have first priority. Satos can only be flown if the shelters have space. Luckily here in the Northeast, people spay/neuter their dogs so we do not have a lot of problems here.

It's a phenominal program, this weekend the rescuers are flying in from the Island to visit with their rescues. We do a yearly reunion in New England.

isnt breeding purebreds just as bad as mixing breeds?? dont get me wrong- its not good to mix breeds together, but if you think about it, people will NEVER stop mixing breeds. and if instead of mixing breeds together you have purebred puppies, wont that STILL be adding to the population?? there will still be MORE dogs in this world, mixed or purebred.
anyways, i think a husky and a basset hound would look neat. (busky) lol.... i think a puggle (pug, beagle) is a cute mixed breed also. i have a toy poodle mix (dont know with what) and shes cute.

The ONLY reason to breed dogs is to better their breed and apply in every way to the breed standard! Period. Yes, breeding your purebred pet Golden Retrievers together is just as bad as if you were to breed your pet Golden to the nieghbor's pet GSD. To have a breedable dog, the dog needs to be shown in their sport (Border Collies should actively be trained in herding, Labs in sporting/dock-jumping, etc), registered of course so that all of the puppies have clear certification of their lineage, OFA certified and BAER, eye tested and absolutely healthy, and a WONDERFUL example of their breed. The breeders also need to stop giving their puppies away to who ever walks by and has $100 on them, and start screening future homes and only selling pups to people that have signed a contract (which included spay/neuter for pet quality puppies) and have been interviewed and home-checked. If this were common procedure for ALL dog breeders, there would be no dogs in shelters!
Anyway, the bottom line is that the reason that people should not breed mixes is because they are improving absolutely no standard, they're doing nothing for their dogs. Mutts are awesome, I KNOW, but the sad fact is that mixed breed dogs have no predictable size, temperament, structure, health, or anything! And, a lot of the time, neither do poorly-bred BYB purebreds. The fact is that in shelters around the country, you do not see stunning (though many of the dogs there are still stunnning ;) ) show quality, extremely well-bred dogs sitting around waiting to be euthanized ~ you see a majority of mixed breed dogs, followed by lots of suspected purebreds that are almost always out of their standard. Good breeders, who work to improve their breeds, will not cross-breed dogs and they will not allow their puppies to end up in shelters :)

Thanks for pointiing that out, I actually hadn't even looked at the site before I saw your post so I just went to take a look at a few more breeds and a lot of them don't seem to have true info on the breeds. I jsut read through the Doberman info and the only thing they seemed to have gotten correct is the grooming requirements. The Rottweiler info they have is totally wrong aswell....Quote:

Nobody wanted him, mainly ( I suspect) because he is older, and has a pug/boxer face. So we saved him as a permanent addition to our household. He was a pet someone was forced to hand over to the pound as a kid got allergies or something, and when we called his old owner to get his shot records(way OVERDUE I might add, by 2 years!) She cried, and was happy he placed, as she had given him up awhile back and thought he was for sure to be euthanized. Though I am glad to have such a nice pet, he now has separation anxiety, as he grew with his last family for his entire life, until the kid got allergies, It is sad and I am sure he understands not, but he is my boy, he only has one quirk, he likes to pee on my furniture, not sure why, but he has only done it 3 times, mainly when left unsupervised (which won't be happening again, lol...) well, sorry to rant and vent, but I am glad to see others who believe along the same lines as me, since as long as I can remember, I have disagreed with all the overpopulation and breeding, though I know it will never happen, I do wish someone would take heed and devise a plan, or the animals that are in need and are no doubt GREAT, will no longer have anything to look forward to, no comfortable beds, a loving family, a good home,a nice doghouse, and food, playtime with the family children, all that will be gone....because of overpopulation........... :( some think I over eggagerate and dramatize, but imagine being a dog or cat, needing a home , and no one to take you in, because they have a pet, or bought a puppy, or have no room for more pets....wouldn't you be devastated??? ok that aside, I would say ACD and Dalmatian or maybe blue lacy and border collie, but that was hard, I just think about the pure bred loosing its good qualities! Who needs to cross when new colors are being bred anyway?!?
i think that website was totally incorrect. they say AST's arent as good with strangers. from what ive heard, there great with strangers. its only SOMETIMES they may not get along with other dogs. i looked on toy poodle (i have one) and most of it was pretty accurate. but they only gave 3 stars (or maybe four, i forget) for getting along with strangers, but my toy poodle mix LOVES strangers. she loves them so much, sometimes i worry she may get stollen. her mom and dad (dad full toy poodle, mom half) love people too. and only 3 for getting along with other dogs. yah right! my dog is afraid of big dogs, other wise she loves ones that are her size. they're right about how poodles bark ALOT ;)

i would never try and make a new breed. there are too many anyway. i hate the idea of "designer dogs". i honestly think that if you can't find a breed from all the breeds people have already created ,then dogs aren't for you.
My aunt had a rescue dog that was a mix between GSD and a Great Dane, and he was BEAUTIFUL!!! He looked like a shepard, but was the size of a dane. I have pictures of my cousin and me riding on his back like he was a pony. His name was Bo, so thats who I named my Bo after.
I always said if you mixed a hyena and a chihuahua together, you would get Tito. :p
