Katie has taken a turn for the worse.

I am sorry to say that my sweet Katie, Katie pretty lady has taken a turn for the worse.
We will be going to end her suffering peacefully very soon.
I want to thank you all for your prayers and support.

My heart is breaking Lorraine. :( I'm so very sorry that Katie wasn't strong enough to overcome what should have been a routine procedure...this reminds me too much of my dear (only 9) year old Bonnie who had a similar decline after dentistry. http://petoftheday.com/talk/showthre...ht=Bonnie+Legs May Bonnie & my dear Willy and all the other kitties at The Bridge guide your pretty girl around. This is the most distressing news. :( I had such high hopes for your little girl. I know that there are no words to keep you from hurting but please know that we are hurting with you. together we know the (imaginary) guilt we put on ourselves and the "what ifs" that we ask ourselves. We know the heart wrenching pain of having to say good bye and feeling responsible for taking their life away. We've felt the total emptyness of having 1 less family member no matter how many others are still in our lives. But remember, the pain will pass and the beloved memories will remain with you always. Katie's spitit will never leave you, she is part of you.

My Katie, Katie Pretty Lady is at peace now.

I held her in my arms while the final injection was being given, talking to her and what do I hear playing, the lullabye song, "Go To Sleep My Little One." I asked the vet if they play that song just for this occassion and he said, "No, that it was a coincidence that it was playing on the radio. It brought comfort to me.

Then while we were driving home, a tabby cat just like my Katie girl, went running across the street. What does my hubby come out with, "There goes our Katie running to the Rainbow Bridge." Well, you can imagine how that just did me in.

When I feel up to it, I will make a proper memorial for my sweet girl.

Sometimes healing comes through death, as Katie is certainly well and no longer in any pain, playing at the Rainbow Bridge. I believe that prayers for her to be healed have been answered, just not in the way that WE had hoped she would be healed...... I just can't imagine the distress you must be feeling, Lorraine. I, too, hope that by knowing how many people here on PT care about you, and can understand what you are going through, you will in some way feel a little better.....
