Just wondering.. Is everyone on dial up or cable, etc.? I used to be on dial up a few years ago I don't know if I could go back or not. I am so used to cable being so fast now. I was just curious what everyone else is on.

Dial-up and it sucks immensly. Picture threads with large pictures will literally take an hour or more to load for me. So unfortunately I have to skip looking at many threads like that unless I have a lot of time on my hands.
We have DSL.We had dial up for a long time, I still cant get over the difference sometimes.:p
I have cable- hubby is a contract web developer and often does work form home so cable is a necessity.
Cable here.
I used to have dial up and it sucks so now I splurged and got cable. I'll never go back to dial up.:)
Being in the metropolitan Boston area has its advantages. We had cable, now we have FiOs - Fiber optic Internet. Even faster than cable, and so far extremely reliable.
Wow! I've never even heard of this. How does this work? Is it more expensive than cable?Quote:

Cable :D
I have Satellite internet access.
i guess thats called DSL?
we used to have dailup though. and was stuck with that for many a year. so those of you who ware stuck on dialup i feel your pain. thats why i also resize my pictures and try to post no more then 5 pictures a thread. but sometimes i go over my limit. :o
Dial-up, and as Amy said there are some threads I really can't look at at home because it takes so long to load, and even then will drop pictures. Maybe some day...
I still have dial up and because my boss pays for that, I'm sticking with it for the time being. Also I happen to like AOL's email system and would hate to have to pay for AOL in addition to cable.
lol amy! the way you said it.. :D
well, I lurk/respond by my pager and I would say it's a little bit faster than dial-up! the regular dial-up computer would download the exact sizes of (small/large/or even larger) pictures while my pager automically shrinks/compresses all of the pictures into smaller resolutions that this screen can read. (thank god!) :D
(but.. amy/nebo's utah photos was the only thread that frozen up my pager and had to refreshen the page 4-5 times to get all of the photos..whew!)
I have DSL. My thoughts and prayers are with the people with dial-up:(

Dial up
High speed through my cable company.
Cable....thank goodness. I won't even get on my parents computer if I am over there because they still have dial-up and I can't wait that long for it to connect. Karen, we have Fios over here too but so far only one company is offering it and it's not the one we use. Glad to know that is pretty efficient.
We currently own our Cable (faster up & down). We're hoping within 6 months to upgrade to a business Modem. its supose to be insanly fast up & down.
DSL over here, it isn't quite as fast as cable but it's enough to make me happy. Plus I don't download that much so DSL works fine for me.
We have cable NOW, but had DSL for years. I miss DSL...it was faster. Cable IS fast, but the speed fluctuates. DSL was constantly fast. I think having too many people in the neighborhood using cable causes the speed to slow down at times. DSL doesn't have that problem. We do intend to go back to DSL sometime soon.
Actually, I don't have a computer! I have what I call the "Poor man's internet" I own a web tv system. It's slow as heck, (dial up) but at least I'm on PT! It does have it's advantages. I'm able to lay on the couch with the wireless keyboard and watch the internet on my 20" regular tv set.
Cable :)
dsl
I think I have Roadrunner. Maybe that's cable but i don't know.
Cable. Wouldn't go back to dialup for a million dollars (ok, maybe 2 million)
I have Dial up, Aol which I like, but thinking of changing to dsl
next mo. My daughter and i shared a bundled account with aol and compuserve, but she is going to wireless, so I think i will go to dsl with the phone company. It works great for my cousin. So will see how it works..lol
Dial up for now, maybe cable next year, I'm in a rural area and cable is not as cheap as dial up.
I have cable. :)
I have cable and it's always fast.
We had cable for Internet Access for years, most recently they upgraded it to 6 megabits per second. It was fine, and fast - except for the times in the past year when it didn't work at all. Those times were getting annoyingly frequent.
We now have FiOS at 15 megabits per second, so far it is great, and far faster.
It costs about the same as cable.
i have dial up at the moment, but we are hetting ADSL in a few weeks:D
I started out with cable and had a bad experience my stupid modem never worked:mad: so my mom switched it to aol, and i love aol. except when it kicks you off and my mom hates me being online all the time because it ties up our phoneline. but oh well nobody ever calls :D and aol works better for me anyways because i have a laptop...
We have dial up right now. But in a few weeks after we move we will have DSL!:D
Yay you get fast internet!!! my DSL was never fast anyways in the like 5 days we had it....
I have cable. I can't imagine not having it! I had dialup for years and it's such a big change, I love it!
DSL here and are changing from 1.5mps speed up to 3mps and it is going to cost LESS:D
Each year I am learning to hesitate when it is time to renew for another year at a special rate and they always offer something even better to keep us as customers!! (SBCglobal)
ditto! :)Quote:

:) I have Cable ( yes $$ but ok ) I used to have dial up & it got bad with viruses popping in & so I got scared & to save my computer went to Cable..
Dial up. I just can't afford cable. Plus, I don't like the idea of my computer being on all the time.
