This is Samson

Hi everyone,
We usually post on Cat General, but now have a big, beautiful Golden/Pyrenees mix in our family, so wanted to show him off in a thread here.
Here's Samson - 9 years young, 120 lb. master tennis ball chaser and all around good guy with our cats. We adopted him yesterday from Golden Bond Rescue of Oregon.

BTW...Pippin is completely blind, but not afraid of much. Looks like he and Samson will do just fine!

awww!! Congradulations on your new family member ;) Samson is really cute and that´s just awesome he gets along well with kitties ;)

Oh my! I have a 9 year old male Great Pyrenees/Golden mix too! He weighs 140 pounds, his name is Milo.

He is GORGEOUS!! Did you find out why he was given up? The more I get to know my shelter Mika, the less I can understand how people can give up dogs that seemlingly have no real problems.

Sam's history

The rescue group said his former owner had died about 2 years ago and the wife kept him, but sort of neglected him. He was kept outdoors, not played with or exercised and he started digging and wandering off (surprise!). Sort of a classic case of one person in the marriage wanting the dog and other didn't. So I guess she did the right thing by finding a rescue group and getting the dog into a better situation. But I just can't imagine a better behaved dog after being neglected for 2 years!
