My Parents' 50th Wedding Anniversary!

Yesterday, January 8th, was my parents' Golden 50th Wedding Anniversary! I am so very thankful and blessed to not only have my parents living for this long, but to actually have them still married to eachother. I wish so badly that my children could have been able to say the same, but that won't be the case.

My hubby and I went over to their house last night and celebrated. We gave them a gold 50th Anniv. tray, and I made a little framed print on my computer for them. Funny ... it cost me nothing, and that's what my mom loved the most! She immediately hung it on her living room wall! ;)

My Dad gave Mom a DVD player for her bedroom, and she gave him a gold pocket watch, engraved for their anniversary. My sister brought some wedding petit fours. It was a wonderful night, and we got to watch a newly transferred video of their actual wedding ceremony!!! The camera shop also added music to it ... "Goin' to the chapel, and we're gonna get married ..." It is PERFECT because most of the video was of each of them getting ready! What a blessed night, and I just wanted to share a few pics with my PT friends!

Kim, what a blessed person you are! Your parents look so active, vital and still in love.. and to have spent the last 50 years together! How amazing that you still have a video of them getting ready for the wedding. What an amazing thing.

50 years ..... Kim, if I look THAT happy and THAT good at 50 years of marriage, I will consider myself blessed.

It sounds like you had a nice party for them.

My parent's had their 50th in 1996. Mom died exactly three weeks before their 58th Anniversary. That was pretty tough on Dad.

What a beautiful couple they are!! That DVD of the wedding ceremony is priceless, believe me!

Last year my cousin sent me a DVD of some still photos and family movies that her aunt had made complete with music. I sat on the living room floor THIS Christmas and cried like a baby as I watched it on my new DVD player. Just seeing my mom and dad and all aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents, all of who (except for the cousins) are now deceased was something I will ALWAYS treasure!!! I didn't realize that little kid in a party dress with saddle shoes and pigtails was ME!!! :eek: :eek:
