Pee Pee..at the vet all day!

Poor Pee Pee!! When we got home last night we found she had peed all over David's side of the bed! (I SWEAR I didn't tell her to do that!! ;) )

We were doing laundry as a result and I caught her peeing on a pile of clothes too. BIG puddles, so I'm not 100% certain this is a health issue.

I took her to her vet at lunch and she'll be escorted home by her fabulous vet tonight. She's having a urinalysis done to make sure she's OK.

I also noticed she has the beginnings of kitty acne too. I think we'll be buying a new cat tree soon...of all things to cause kitty acne!! :rolleyes:

Poor thing, she's always so fearful of the port-o-prision and the car. :( She was all huddled in the side of the carrier on the way there.

I'll let you know what Dr. Hanser (Susie) says when she's brings Phoebe home.

I hope she'll be ok! Thank goodness she's in good trusted hands.

Normally, I don't think so. But Sami and Pee Pee rest thier chins on the tree so that's the only thing I can think of. They only use ceramic bowls that I wash daily, so I don't know of anything that could cause it.

The tree they rest on is the one we bought two years ago...I get with that many cats, they do get old quicker, huh?

Kelly it's good to see you taking the wet bed with such good humor!:) I've been down that road several times and it is not pleasant. Of course we usually find ours right as we are ready to go to bed so we are tired and now have to change sheets and bedding. That has a tendancy to really make me angry!:mad: I never have found out who our culprit was so I didn't know who to be mad at so I just had to suck it up and get over it.:p

I hope poor PeePee gets a clean bill of health and that she doesn't wet your bed again. I know that it is a pain in the butt. One of my diabetic cats, Jade< when she was first diagnosed and for awhile after that she would pee all over my bed all the time! Every once in awhile she still will. thank god I had a plastic mattress cover on the mattress or it would have been ruined.

Has anything happened in your living conditions that could have upset her? Stress will sometimes cause them to do that too..

I hope and pray that it isn't anything serious with Phoebe.

I love your reference to carriers, as "Port-O-Prisons"! ROFLMAO! :D NotROFLMAO at Phoebe/Pee Pee's behavioural change. Hope all's okely-dokely with her. ;)

Actually, stainless steel (I recently read) is the best type to use. Ceramic is porous and therefore can hold germs as well! :rolleyes: Of course I found this out after buying 8 to 10 new porcelain bowls!!! :rolleyes: ;)

I think ceramic is only porous if it is unglazed Kim so you should be fine using ceramic ones if you stick them in the dishwasher to sterilise them .

Kelly, I'm so sorry to hear that Phoebe is having pee problems.:( I hope that her urinalysis comes back normal. Please keep us updated.

I use stainless steel bowls for both food and water but Sunny still has kitty acne. If you really think it's the cat tree, then maybe you and David can buy one at the cat show this weekend. They ususally have great prices at the shows.:)

Phoebe is home and happy to be here. :) She was a really good girl at the vet, even though she hid under her fleece blankie the entire time. ;)

Her results come back tomorrow, so I'll let you all know what shows up then.

The bowls are all different types of ceramic. Some are made to be cat bowls, others are dipping bowls used in Asian cuisine (thank you, Cost Plus....sooooo cute!!), so they are used to being washed in a HOT dishwasher each day.

I really think its that cat tree. Trac, I'll be on the look out for trees at the show. The only problem is getting it back home in our Honda Civic. ;)

Dr. Hanser brought by some oinment to use on thier chins to help. I know she doesn't recommend the Aveda, but its really clearing Sami's chin up nicely...and his hair almost grown back...that was FAST!!!

Poor Pee Pee- at the moment I have a lot of compassion for anyone who has to deal with that. Knowing that my Filou is the "behavioral" guy I know how difficult it is to get them in a situation to feel safe and independent enough not to pee in in appropriate places.

Kisses for her and Samson- hope their kitty acne goes soon.:)

Oh YES, I depend on my dishwasher to sterilize .... thanks for the info!;)

The Found Catys,and I are glad,that you are atking the wet bed,in stride,as a lot of people would get angry,and throw the Cat out,and we hope,that your Vet,can help her,from repeating ,the peeing!

I'm sorry to hear Phoebe is having problems, but I'm glad to hear she's home and doing well again. Hopefully they find a problem because those durn behavioral issues are so much tougher to deal with. ;)

Their hair gets a bit sparse and there are black flecks. That's how Phoebe looks right now. Sami lost fur and had really scaley skin. Dr. H did a parasite skin scraping on Phoebe yesturday and didn't find anything. She wanted to make sure it was just acne.

Dr. H brought over some Oxy Dex cream to apply to their chins. I think they prefer their Aveda facials to that, though. ;)

Pee Pee is doing well this morning. I guess I'll hear from Dr. H today if anything came up on the tests.

Thanks Kelly. How do they get acne? Is it mainly one type of cat like an indoor cat or outdoor cat, or are all cats subject to it.

I would pay DEARLY if anyone could tell me how to get Sasha to quit peeing on our bed! She doesn't have a UTI, she's healthy as a horse, happy as a lark, and she's done this since day one. I'm like CCL - she always does it RIGHT before we go to bed, and scolding doesn't seem to affect it any. I am terribly sensitive to smells and cat urine is HORRID. :mad: :mad: :mad:

She also pees on piles of clothes (yeah, I know, picking them up off the floor would be an easy solution :rolleyes: but I'm too lazy for that) or towels in the bathroom (again, on the floor). It's like there's something about fabric...:confused:

I'm glad she is home and hope the tests are good. I'm another who can sympathize with the pee pee problem. Ripley has begun spraying again. So far he is only doing it in our bathroom in the corner by the tub and bath rug so it's not too destructive but I'm afraid he is going to or has already started spraying elsewhere and I just haven't found it. The odd thing is his urine has very little smell to it. The other cats can smell it but it's not strong like cat spray usually is.

I've never thought about the cat tree causing acne. Have you ever considered recovering it with new carpet? It's easy to do with two people and a staple gun and a lot cheaper than buying a new tree. You can get carpet remnants at flooring stores really cheap. I got a huge remnant for $10 a few years ago and we've used it to cover our tree and recover three scratching posts plus there is a lot left over.

hee hee Besides her little pee pee issues, wanna know why we call her that? When she was younger, she followed David into the bathroom. He pulled up the lid and seat and got ready to pee. Phoebe was highly interested in what was going on, so she climbed up and fell into the toilet!!!! :eek: David couldn't stop his, uh, flow that quick, so she got peed on a bit!! :eek:

She didn't learn her lesson that time! She tried to jump in again, but luckily David learned the first time and shewed her away! ;)

Looks like I'll be purchasing some Feliway and some odor spray to help prevent this....

Kelly, Has she been under a lot of extra stress lately? Have you and David been under a lot of stress? Maybe she senses that you and David are going away this weekend. Cats are very good at picking up our stress. Hopefully you'll be able to control this bad habit. Good luck.
I'd also think about buying a plastic matress cover so she won't do any major damage to it.
