THEY think cats are bad with Christmas Trees..

They have NO clue!

Not only is the shiney tinsel, the extremely good smelling- paper wrapped, "toys", and the yummy caned-shaped treats very intriging to a puppy.. BUT.. what about THESE thing.. to an 8 month old TENNIS BALL FREAK!

Not only has she almost completey knocked ovr the tree by dropping her tennis ball underneath and triyng to get them. Ripped tinsel off of it.
Brushed against it while running around like a crazy woman, knocking things off,
STOLEN her stocking and started playing with it (we lay them under the tree)
Tried ripping up the presents

NOW she's began taking the round ornaments off, thinking they're balls or something.

Maybe I better tell her about Santa Paws...

Oh the joys of puppies at Christmas!!

For the first seeral years wehad Oreo, we could have no ornaments onthe bottle of the tree. She would take and destroy anything!! Thankfully she is short, or our tree wouldhave been REALLY bare!!

The first Christmas we had Cincy, she as about 12 weeks old. One morning I got up and let them out, then dozed off on the couch til it was time to get up. Pretty soon Sadie is waking me up to show me that Cincy is under the coffee table eating an ornament made of plaster-of-paris. I'm not sure if Sadie was concerned about what cincy was eating, or concerned about getting blamed, but she sure was (and still is!) a great babysitter!!

In fact, I'm thinking if I am going to have children, I'd better do it soon, before Sadie is too old to raise them! :D :p

Yes furkids can make Christmas even more memorable! I will be decorating my tree this weekend and I'm sure I'll have four little elves 'helping' me and then every now and then helping me take down the tree little by little before it is time! ;) :p

I must have he odd dogs here,,, Neither of them pay the LEAST attention to the tree or the decorations in the house!!!!!

Well it didn't take me long to figure out I had best get a shorter tree, then put the whole thing up on a bench type thing. Lowest branches are approx 2-3 ft off the floor. Helps some but bigdog tails when wagging can still knock a few lower ornaments off. Also that helps if/when a male dog decides inside trees are great to pee on if it's cold, snowy or rainy outside :rolleyes: I still have to secure the top part of the tree with fish line tied to the window latch to keep the tree up if/when a cat wants to climb it :p Would I have it any other way? NAH, it wouldn't be Christmas:D

No ornament stories, but a Christmas tree one :) We used to always get real trees when I was growing up. When I was 13 and Cody was spending his first Christmas with us, we got the tree and set it up, decorated it and put it in the metal tree stand that you can put water in to keep the tree from drying out. I was washing dishes at the sink the next day and had the water faucet running, but when I turned it off, I heard what sounded like someone pouring water into the tree stand in the living room. I thought it was my grandpa, who was spending that Christmas with us, watering the tree. I turned to see it was Cody "watering" the tree in the first and only time he ever peed in the house! There he was nonchalantly lifting his leg on the Christmas tree! So nice of us to bring the outdoors in for him ;)

LOL!! we cannot even put Christmas presents under the tree yet the dogs will take off with them:p

When we had Gracie, we quickly learned to use a playpen - for the tree! Being mostly Great Dane, her tail was lethal, and not connected to her brain. She could wipe half the ornaments off the tree in one happy moment ... and candy canes were more tempting than steak ...

That is one of the reasons we decided to not put up a tree...I KNOW Bon would try to tear everything including the tree up:o

Hubby and I don't celebrate x-mas, but my in laws do. One year when we were there, Drake decided to lift his leg and water the tree! Luckily I saw him right as he was starting and Andrew got him outside! He's never peed inside since he was very lil pup, but somehow he thought it would be OK since it was a tree!!

He has been around several other xmas trees since then, but hasn't tried to pee on them!

a few Years ago Tahoe also peed on our tree!! but this year and last i came home to find ornaments off the tree but not eaten HOWEVER they chewed the lights so not one of them works this year!! we have to RE LIGHT the whole tree!!! I am not sure who did it but when we leave the house now everyone of them is locked out of the living room where the tree is!!!

We've never had a problem with Lady and the Christmas tree, but we DON'T put anything breakable on the lower branches, because Lady's tail is deadly. The main problem we had with the real tree we had 2 years ago was that Lady would chase one of the cats (Trillian) into the tree and Trill would use the ornaments for toys.

Merlin never trird to do anything to the tree but he loves to watch the lights. Even now he'll stare for hours. The outside icicle lights really get him outside more.

Katie and Tori have toppled over the Christmas tree not once but TWICE!!!!! We now have no lights on the bottom half of the tree :rolleyes: So....our tree is not looking so good right now...lol. They actually don't bother the tree they just keep trying to get behind it to look out the window. Those girls can really drive me crazy!!!

The bottom few feet of my tree has lights, but nothing else on it. Because happy tails always knock lower stuff off.
Then just this morning... Buddy decided water our FAKE tree while I was in the shower!!!! He had just come in from outside!

Thankfully Kia hasn't destroyed my parents tree. Then again.. It's only about 2 to 3 feet tall and sits atop a crate. :D

My mom had homemade decorations...they were like stuffed things. Really cute till the year josie ate everyone of them off the tree :rolleyes: Including this thing I made and was very proud of. DEAD!!!! This was like when she was a lot younger

Heidi has never seen a Christmas tree before. Last year we didn't put one up because no one felt like it, but this year we are going to. I bet she will be scared; something new ya know, thats big and in HER house. ;) But then she will get over that. Last year though she kept trying to steal our stockings off the mantle. Mine and my brothers had these stuffed animals on them and she wanted those! She doesn't bother the presents until i give them to her and tell her she can open them. :) I am glad, but we don't have ANY Christmas decorations up or presents wrapped yet!! :eek: We are kind of slow. :o

Mum just put candy canes on the tree tonight, Clover was being very quiet tonight and yes that is where i found her lol, nawtee girl.

we had to teach Beanie that the tree in the house wasn't a bathroom!:o no kidding! he peed on it like three times when we first got him.

I was afraid for that too for my cats!! The smell of the fresh soil (or is it "dirt"??) . Luckily it didn't happen :D

Anna and Rosie don't care about the Christmas tree... doesn't bother them, so they leave it alone! :)

This is our first Christmas with Monty and Kiki. They watched me decorate the tree the other night but neihter really bothered with it. I know I can't put their Christmas gifts under the tree until Christmas Eve after they go to bed or there won't be anything left for them Christmas morning. They check out every bag we bring into the house looking for goodies for them. I have hidden their stuff in cupboards for now.;) I can't wait till Christmas morning to watch them open their gifts, I'm sure it's the first time they have ever had gifts to open.:(

It's about darn time one of your pups act like mine! Now you know how I feel! ;) Just kidding. Harley & Sylvia are a lot better this year. Kiara is too funny and too cute!

When I had my cat, she would be terrible with christmas tree ornaments. That is when I was married we had a Christmas tree.
I had to keep the presents in my room until Christmas so the cat would not tear them up.:)
