Lucky & Louie were INSTANT Celebrities!!

The handsome Southern gentlemen, Lucky and Louie both went to Petsmart yesterday, and were the 'talk of the town'! :D :D They missed a newspaper reporter by less than an hour, otherwise I'm sure a write-up would have been done of their remarkable journey. :) They posed with Santa Claus for a few pictures (which are Polaroids, so I have to figure out how to get them posted here), and Santa must have smelled as he got a ~HISS~ from Lucky LOL! Adopters were filling out adoption forms right and left for the ones in the adoption area, so it's probably a day or so before the boys graduate to the adoption area. :) The shelter is quite impressed with all that these boys had been through, and are hopefully going to get some extra publicity for the two. We took a few snapshots before the batteries went dead... so without further ado....:D

A big THANK YOU to all the PTers who helped out financially, and saved Lucky's life, and a big THANK YOU to Leslie for allowing them to trash her tiny bathroom, and apartment for the week. (And paying for their flight to Mass. as well) :) Isn't this what Christmas is really about? ;)

Their story is so heart warming. The people on this website are all so wonderful and I'm glad that two lucky kitties benefitted from all that love! Lucky and Louie deserve a wonderful home.

What scamps they look to be! They're gonna steal hearts left and right, and I am sure will end up in a terrific furrrever home!

Thanks to ALL PETTALKERS! For your wonderful support and love and of course donations to save Lucky's life! I am in awe of how many donations poured in!!!! My credit card bill for Lucky's stay at the vets for 5 days was less than $100.00 because of all you great people- Merry Christmas to all and again, you all are GREAT! I wish I knew exactly who donated money so I could send you all a thank you note; but I bet lots of people went to the thread and wished the best for Lucky and that is just as giving and loving...not everyone can afford to send a donation so I don't want to slight the prayers that went his way- every bit of love, no matter in what form, helped Lucky to be with his brother and in good health and ready for a new home today! I am full of gratitude and I know Laura and Kevlin and Rhonda are too.
Catnapper- if you have a photo of the wonderful drawing you did, could you post it here for all to enjoy? You are a very good artist!

I am sure glad to hear that things are going so good for the boys. Hopefully they will get the best X-Mas Present ever. The best they could for X-Mas is a Furr-ever home. Mom called today she should be home Wen. said hopefully will be on our end of the Mississippi River. She was a little disappointed that the boys were already gone. LOL I think she wanted them at her house for X-Mas but she knows how important it is for the boys to be in their Furr-Ever Home(s). My wife and I would like to thank Leslie, Jan and all PTer's for their help and most of all their Thought's and Prayers for these 2 Louisiana boys when they were in need. Please keep the Prayers going for not just Lucky and Louie but for all our 4 legged life partners that have not been saved yet. We had a youth minister and his youth group here tonight that said we All (PTer's) were Angels that were sent to these animals. So hey lets NOT let these pets down. well i am choked up by your kind words! You all are the best! I hope we can get the Santa with Lucky and Louie pics up soon. Louie liked to curl into my lap while i was on the computer (and purr and purr), Lucky wanted to play-- I'd open the bathroom door and his head would be bobbing for a run! He liked to throw around my baby rubber duck for a toy and dragged the catdancer behind the shower where i could barely reach it! I think it must have been Lucky that started the tp party their 2nd night here! Louie is a water baby (as jan puts it), he likes to drag the water bowl all over with his front feet! Your mom's carriers should arrive on Friday- the fly route via fed ex was so expensive so I sent them ground- hope that is ok..

Hi ALL! I am at Kevlins now and have the drawing already in my car to take home, scan and post! It is BEAUTIFUL!! Great job she did on it and we are all very thrilled with it..

Last I heard they are still the popular cats, the volunteers take them out for walks and hugs constantly! We are waiting for an update on distemper boosters and move to the front room! They are being great boys with wonderful attitudes! I wonder if they are posted on petfinder? jan do you know? I will look!

Let me know if they are posted there, I wanna see if they are! I told Kevlin, I really think that woman loved those boys, it is her husband that is a major jerk! The day I took them back to Kevlin, she was there and she sat in the floor hugging them with tears in her eyes and wouldn't put them down.

Post the link on petfinder if they are there, PLEASE!! (I would love to see what they say about those two!)

on petfinder- they are at the petsmart in Salem- one has to scroll to the town of Salem and click onto Peabody Rescue! The pictures weren't posted because the woman who does this task is having a baby and I guess no one else knows how to post photos! They are forbidding adoptions this week to avoid impulse purchases for christmas (as are all the shelters)..

Please send a Merry Christmas to our boys if you will Leslie! I sure miss them and am dissapointed that they have not got a furever home for the holidays but it did my heart good to see their pictures. They are still my sweet handsome southern boys. IIIIIIIEEEEEEEEE to My BOYS!!!

The shelter is stopping all adoptions for this week, so everyone (L&L too) is staying put till after the holidays are done with. Almost all shelters operate that way to avoid that must have (toy) Christmas kitty. Word has it there's two sets of people interested in the boys, but they are going to be screened to assure this isn't a whim. The manager Art is in love with them, as are most of the employees of the store. L&L have free run whenever someone's there to make sure they don't explore too much. The shelter has a large amount of space in the back area for the cats, and Lucky & Louie love to explore it! I will keep everyone posted if I hear any news. ;)

WONDERFUL!! . Phred, thank you for seeing our boys have a nice Christmas and get presents.. Is is so nice to hear how much everybody loves those two!!

I sent some toys with the boys, don't know if the toys got to actually make the flight or not but I tried to see they had some.....

The boys are in the adoption room now! Less room for them to get into stuff, but everyone sees them now. :D Of course the store's closed tomorrow, and New Years day, but there's so few cats there it's like a ghost town! :eek: Time to start piling the mobs of kitties I have here into Petsmart pronto! ;)

Thanks Phred!! I will have to go give the boys christmas kisses tomorrow and make sure they got some toys! Maybe jan will show me how to use her camera and let me take a couple last pics of them.. (oh dear, 2 sets of people interested? Oh dear, It's been so nice knowing where they are and how safe they are.. I will trust Diane to do a great screening job!) Laura, toys aren't allowed on flights if I remember correctly! (They made a toy out of my little yellow rubber duck in the bathroom, a roll of toilet paper, and the knob off the bolt that holds down one side of the toilet! And they loved the cat dancer! Isn't it great that their pic is posted now on pet finder!?

Yes Leslie, I am really happy to see them on Petfinder at long last but the pictures brought tears I didn't expect. I will alway wish I could have kept them. Once you experience their sweetness and the closeness they share, you can't forget them..

Yes, Please get more pictures if you can... Jan, Get the camera ready!!!... Leslie, I had to laugh at the toys they made themselves in your bathroom.. Kitties are so resourceful!!

Carla and Mike adopted Madeline today from Jan. they live in Saugus (I think) and have adopted Birdie and Marshall in the past! (check old pt threads on these little guys) No plane trips necessary! They haven't been through the process yet.. I was hopin you Phred would talk to Mike and Carla and then give a good word to the rescuers!! (if is ok with mike and carla of course!)

Did they decide to get our "Boys"??? I thought it was in the "thinking about it" stage... but if they decided to adopt them, I am great with it and so is Kevlin and Rhonda.. We WANT them to stay in the PT family if at all possiable. I will not do the "Happy Dance" until I see Carly or QSL post and say they really ARE!!

Well it's after 11pm here now, jan was gonna try to get a hold of Diane (in charge of screening) to see where things are at. But the winds are blowing big and the snow is really comin down! we got at least 10 inches to deal with here! it affects our ability to call people (apparently! ha ha) Lucky and Louie are nice and warm where they are and thats what I care about! Here, it's whistling wind and snow....oh my!

I think we ought to **STOP** PRESSURING people
to "take" Luck & Louie!!

The Twins have had LOTS of exposure here on Pet Talk -
and no one - including "catfamily" (Carla & Mike) -
expressed a desire or ability to adopt them.

They are NOT in any danger - they're in a NICE Shelter and
are getting exposure to potential adopters.
I was told TWO families have expressed an interest in them -
BOTH families are willing to "Take the Pair".

I don't think it is fair to Lucky & Louie to "force" them
into someone's home!

Carla & Mike ("catfamily") already have about 9 cats - one JUST adopted!
Do the really "need" (or really WANT) TWO more????
THEY haven't *posted* any desire to adopt L&L!

I suggest we let the normal adoption process at P.A.L.S. (Peabody)
run it's course BEFORE we "pressure" anyone to "rescue" Lucky & Louie.
They no longer need a "Rescue" - they are SAFE where they are...
Now they need a Home!

Not a good home, a great home! Mike read all the threads regarding the boys yesterday, and both he and Carla decided they wanted them. No pressure whatsoever! Carla has been looking and thinking about them for a while. They have a large roomy, and spotless home, spend thousands$$$$$ on vet trips for all their cats, and have plenty of love to share. The two interested parties (at Petsmart) didn't seem too responsible. One was a nutcase (according to Diane K) and the other family wanted one cat only, and also didn't seem like the purrfect home. :rolleyes: :rolleyes: :rolleyes: And if for some reason Carla and Mike decide the boys aren't working out for some reason, the shelter will alway take them back. Highly unlikey that will happen though. :D

The boys are doing fine and dandy! We look forward to pics tomorrow! We are all tired from dealing with several inches of snow (8 to 10 and more where there are drifts...argh!) I am glad they are sleeping in a regular home again!

They are all OK at my home this AM.I'm tired.I stayed up all night to make sure everyone was OK.Louie is very domineering and owns the house and everyone in it.Lucky is sweet and lovable..but still spitting at my cats and owns all the toys.Lucky won't let anyone play with any toys.Louie is growling spitting at everyone and insist to go on the kitchen counters,gas stove,I keep pushing him down but insist to keep going up.Doesn't like to be told what to do.They are both Very wild but lovable.I think they'll calm down even more by tomorrow.My cats were all so scared all night so I had to stay up all night.Poor Marshall was getting killed by Louie and even My Monty was crying all night because he was scared of them.I should of put them in a room first..but they are the kind of cats that would tear apart the room to get out.LOLThey both love to be patted and picked up.Thank Goodness for that.
Madeline is in the safety of the bathroom and comes out for about a minute at a time.She is the best lovable cat.No spitting or anything from her.
