Sadly, I do think he did it. Whether the jury will find him guilty...not so sure. I don't think he will be aquitted though; probably a hung jury!

What's scary is that they found the bodies not too far from a dog park I go to sometimes! :eek:

I heard someone from Court TV (hehe) talking about it and he believed it would be a hung jury. He said Peterson would be held without bond until the next trial if that happened.
I voted "who cares." I have not paid attention to this trial one bit. If he did it, I hope he's found guilty, and if he didn't, I hope he's found innocent. Wake me up when the verdict comes in. ;) :D
I do care because I'm really getting tired of men killing their wives for sport or simply because they no longer care to be married and can't be bothered to get a divorce, stand the thought of having to pay allimony, split assests, have their "other lives" revealed.
Notable hall of shame members from the past couple of years include:
Mark Hacking, shot her while sleeping, dismembered her and threw her in the trash, literally, just because he didn't want the fact that he had been living a double life revealed.
The Rabbi Fred Neulander, who killed his wife of 30 plus years because he wanted to be free to be with another woman; hired a hit man who shot her in her home while he kept her on the phone. Serving life without parole.
Fred Tokars, the GA lawyer who hired 2 hitmen to kill his young wife. She was shot through the head several times in her car with her 2 small boys watching from the back seat. He refused to "allow" his wife to leave with her children after she found out he was laundering money for drug dealers and having an affair with a prostitue. Serving life without parole.
Dirk Greineder, physican who stabbed his wife to death on a jogging trail and then claimed to the police that she was attacked by strangers while she sat resting on a log as he jogged ahead. Wanted to pursue his "other" life as a gay man and did want this revealed. Serving life without parole.
Richad Sharp, the cross dressing dr. who shot his wife in the back in front of dinner guests because she wanted a divorce.
Michael Peterson, the noted NC socialite and author who killed his wife by throwing her down a flight of steep stairs in their home, telling the police she was drunk and tripped down a "few steps." The 12' walls of the stairway were splattered with blood from the crushing head injury. Currently serving life without parole.

Oh my gosh Sandra :( I am literally shaking from sadness. I am very familiar with the Hacking case and it really makes me SICK. I saw Lori's mother on Oprah twice and the woman is just torn apart from grief. She is making a scholarship fund in her daughter's name so she can be remembered for her life, not her death.
I just don't understand this world sometimes.

I've been following the Peterson case and I just hope he gets what he deserves.
Don't get me wrong, I don't want anyone convicted of a crime he/she didn't commit and let the process unfold. But when I learned that leading cause of death in pregnant women was MURDER I died inside! All the bozos listed above had to do was WALK AWAY! The horror they must have exprienced is almost unbearable to think about. And yes, there are women who kill their husbands, but in not nearly the numbers and usually in the heat of passion, i.e. and argument.

I thought that if you're found guilty in the first or second degree murder, then you're usually sentenced to at least 20 years in prison, if not for life (regardless if you're male or female)... I thought people get sentenced to life in prison with or without parole...

Yes, that is correct. Murder in the broad definition isf the taking of another life, and can fall under any of the catagories described above from 1st degree to involuntary manslaughter. Factors to be considered include was the act committed with or without malicious intent, without or without premeditation, which can be but a moment's thought, with or without "special circumstances," meaning especially cruel and haneious, lying in wait, utilizing the use of a firearm, etc. It is at the descretion of the prosecutor, which catagory a particular case of "murder" is tried under. And unless it is a federal charge, each states has different sentencing guidelines.
