Happy Birthday to my Precious Boy

On September 20, 2000, my special boy was born. His first months were not happy ones. As soon as he was weaned, he was shipped off to a home where the man was an alcoholic and the woman believed to be mentally unstable (this information is according to the neighbor that talked to my brother-in-law, Donnie, about him). Before long he was sitting on a chain outside, barking constantly and filthy, and cowering and wetting himself when anyone came up to him. Thanks to the neighbor and Donnie, he was gotten out of that place with plans to surrender him to a rescue group, but first Donnie asked my husband David if we would want him, and we took him into our hearts and home. That is how he came to live here with us.

Sometimes I have felt as if Tasha is in the spotlight a bit more than Tommy. She was here two years before he came, and she is often the one I take on errands because Tommy is still so flightly and afraid in unfamiliar surroundings. But know this: This loving boy is incredibly dear to us, and I don't know what I'd do without him any more than what I'd do without Tasha. He is the most gentle, loving, and cuddly dog I have ever known. He absolutely thrives on being hugged, petted, kissed, and loved on. We marvel at his willingness to forgive and love human beings even though they made his puppyhood such a frightening and miserable experience.

Today is his day in the spotlight. Today his family celebrates his wonderful existance in our lives. I'd like to share a few pictures of him and for those who like to see videos I have a couple videos of him as well.

Now for the 2 videos.. the first is him playing with his birthday present (he got it a couple days early). It's evening so the lighting is a bit dim.

He is incredibly lucky to have you for a mom!! And he is a beaut!!

The last video I've had for awhile but I just figured out how to lighten it up some because it was too dark... but really all you need is the sound on to enjoy it. It shows how vocal he is when he is playing sometimes. Hope you enjoy!

We love your pictures and we love you!!! You are very much like our Zipper, although he came to us at a much older age. He, like you, loves and wants to be near us at all times. :) That makes me happy and makes Zipper happy too!

That second video is so cute. He's begging for you to come chase him. Duke likes that, too. Tommy, you are so sweet. I love your pics. Especially the one with the closeup of your eyes looking up. That melts my heart. I also love your cute "log prance". I'll bet that's really something to see. You and my dad share the same birthday :) I'm so sorry your life started out so sad but you've got a great home now and know what true love is. Happy Birthday, special Tommy.

Dear Tommy:) I fell in love with you the moment I laid eyes on your beautiful face, those soulful eyes; came to know your incredibly sweet and gentle personality and of course, your love for logs:D What a joy you are to your Mommy, Daddy and sister Tasha Baby. And it's obvious, you are the apple of your uncles' eyes too:):):) I am so sorry you suffered such abuse and neglect during your puppyhood. Oh Tommy, being a Golden mom myself, I know exactly what Jessica means. I've fallen in love with you, sweet boy, and you've quickly become my favorite Pet Talk dog.
