I have a idea

I'm not sure who would be interested in it but we will see. Since everyone is wanting to get to know other members better. How about a "Pen Pal" thing?

How it works is you get another members name and they will get you also. You can send each other cards,letters,small gifts,etc.. whatever you want to do. I know this sounds stupid. But I thought it might just be fun!

The thing is you will have this one person as a "Pal" for a month or so a get to know you type of deal. So that you can get to know the person. If you should have a problem with the person that you get we could change you with someone else.

I know this is probably stupid idea and if it is just ignore this post.

Maybe some more ideas? We could all decide on a name for this and help plan this.

I don't know I was just doing somethinking.

Maybe we could have one person (I'm willing to do it) collect the names & Info of those who want to participate.

Each month, the same person could swap out the names with a different person. We could allow new people to join at the beginning of the month.


We could have a small questionnaire similar to the gift swap one, but smaller since we won't be sending a boat load of gifts.... just in case someone wanted to include something in their letters, or send a small package.


I think "PT Pen Pals" would be a suitable name for it. Let me know what you think Tina! I think it's a fabulous idea.

I think it'd be a great idea. I think it should definitely be actualy snail mail letters... emails can be too impersonal.... of course, at the end of the month, if you want to exchange emails, etc. go ahead! :) I also think that if you get someone you already talk to on AIM or whatever, that you should let the organiser know so they can find you someone you don't really know. :)

Another idea, we have a lot of readers here... how about a PT Book Swap or something? someone finds a fav. book and sends it to one person, someone else sends them a book, etc.. if we could find a way to rotate to have one book hit as many people as possible it would be kinda cool.. That way, we'd get to share the books we like, and maybe someone may find a new favourite! :D

I like Kayann's idea of calling it "PT Pen Pals" and yes we should have a questionnaire like the gift swap. Actually I think most what you said sounds good.

Yes it send the letters and other stuff through snail mail. I think that is the best idea.

I also like the book swap idea too.:)

Heinz - we did the book swap a couple times before. Before we'd pass the book on, we all signed the inside cover. It was a lot of fun!

That's a pretty good idea. I remember when I was a kid I had pen pals from Jamaica and Germany and probably somewhere else (forgot though). That was before email and internet. ;)

I think pretty much. It's to learn about different people. More than likely people with your interests/age would be on the cat side and people you socialize with all the time.

Atleast I think that's how it is/would be best.

Actually I was thinking it should be more of a "snail mail" thing. But it really doesn't matter. Just what everyone else wants to do. Some people may not want to give out there email address though.

I know what you mean!! It happens so seldom - it's like mail! real mail with handwriting and everything!! :D ..the rest eithers goes into the bill pile or the trash!!

Count me in. I love getting snail mail. I have some really great note cards.

As for questions, rather that ask one or two people to come up with all the questions, why doesn't everyone come up with one question that you would like to know about your PT Pen Pal (whoever they may be)? Like: "What is/was your childhood like?" or "What is your favorite memory?" or "Describe your town/city/province." Something that might get a person to write more and not just a one line answer.

Snail mail is actual mail, with a stamp and in an envelope--something none of us receive unelss it's a bill:p
