Oreo needs PT prayers

I found a lump in Oreo's leg, and we will be going to the vet tomorrow (Thurs.) morning to have it checked. I am so worried! It is hard, about the size of a nickel, and in the lower, skinny part of her front leg. It doesn't seem to hurt her, but I still am worried about it.

I want to know what it is. I don't really know what the possibilities are (she's only 5), so the worst keeps coming to mind. I wonder what kind of tests there are to find out what it is, or if the vet will know by feeling it, or if it will just have to be removed and tested.

Please keep Oreo in your thoughts and prayers that this lump is not dangerous and that her vet visit goes well.

Lumps and bumps are the pits, Oreo, and they sure do make us worry!!! I hope that all will be just fine. We'll be keeping you in our prayers that it is nothing to worry about!!!!!! :)

It is always a worrying time when we find something wrong with our pets, I hope the vet visit goes ok and its nothing much, my friend's dog had a lump and it turned out to be just fatty tissue, here's hoping Oreo's is the same thing, positive thoughts being sent your way, let us know soon how it all goes and GOOD LUCK.

It may not be anything bad. Duke had one last year and it turned out to be a clogged pore. Hope the news won't be bad.

prayers are coming! but dont get too worked up, the same thing happened to me with jesse. big, protruding lump; but it turned out to just be a fat lump. <time to switch diet :rolleyes: >

I'll be praying for Oreo. I hope it is nothing big.

Well, the vet recommended that we remove the lump and have it biopsied. She said she was 80% sure it was something benign, but because of the location (front leg), if it got much larger it would be hard to remove. So I had to leave Oreo there, and she will have the surgery between 12 and 3 today. The vet will call me afterward to let me know how it went and what the lump looked like. I'll be able to pick her up after 5.

Thanks for your prayers and thoughts. I feel better that it's probably benign, and it will be reassuring to have it out anyway. Now, I just have to wait and pray that the surgery goes well.

That's good news. At least it is most likely benign and will soon be gone. I'll pray surgery goes well and that the end result is a healthy happy Oreo and Mom :)

Anxiously awaiting the update. I'm so glad the biopsy is being done so quickly and that the vet was reassuring. All fingers and paws crossed that the biopsy is benign. So glad Oreo gets to come home today:) Give her a hug for me!!!

The nurse just called, and Oreo's surgery went well. :D Hooray!

The lump is going to be sent to the lab, and I'll get the results in 3 to 5 days--But at least it is out.

I'll pick her up after 5 tonight, and I'll talk to the vet then. What a relief! I can't wait to go get her and give her a kiss!

Just reading this about Oreo, so glad the surgery went well. Sending prayers that there is good news from the biopsy.

I got Oreo's lab results back today--it was a nerve sheath tumor. I posted a new thread under Dog Health called "Oreo's lab results: nerve sheath tumor" with the details.
