Let's all gather round the PT puters and PLAN When and Where
our NEXT Pet Talk Gathurin / Meeting is going to be held.

The next Big Holiday is the Fourth of July - which falls on a
SUNDAY this year;
so the "Federal day-off Holiday" is on MONDAY, July 5th.

LAST Year (2003) we had a Birfday Party for Kia in lower MICHIGAN on
SUNDAY, JUNE 29 (2003) - Hosted at a *NICE* Dawg Park
(WITH Dawg Swimmin Lake!) by Kia, Kimmy and Andy.
They are "game" to Do It Again - THIS Year!

Then we "skipped" over the 4th of July (2003) and
had a July Gathurin at Findlay, Ohio, on Sunday, July 13th.

I'll reproduce the Planning Calendars down at the bottom of this post -
so you can *see* how the days & Holidays fall.

I'm not pushing for anything in particular; but some of the
"thoughts" expressed before include:

. . Sundays seem to work well - a few have to "werk" :( on Saturdays
. . 3-day *Monday* Holidays are nice - rest up after the trip!
. . BUT - can Everyone who wants to come get "OFF" on Holidays??
. . We should try to Plan Ahead for folks who can only
. . . make it to ONE event.

. . ?? IS Father's Day (Sunday, June 20) a good or bad day to
. . . hold a PT Event??

We're possibly going to Michigan around July 4th...
Dad said we could go to Ohio for a few days if we do head up to MI.. and could attend another meeting. So, around July 4th would be best for us, although don't make plans FOR us.

It'd be neat to have one in the Michigan dog park, with the swimming area sometime while we're up there. :)

Both the 20th and 27th of June are busy days for us, but we haven't missed a gathering yet, so one wouldn't kill us.
Go with the majority.

I'm not sure what are plans are for the weekend of the 4th, but if it is then, my dad will again be home from Florida.

Since Kia's b-day falls on a Tuesday, I was thinking of having a party either the JUNE 19th & 20th or the 26th & 27th weekends.

Whether this happens or not, I'd say still plan to have a Findlay gathering on July 4th if the consensus is that people can make it.

*edit* Seeing Staci's post made me realize I didn't specify the month. oops! :o :)

I am not sure if I can make the 20th gathering. I am going away for that weekend and not sure when we are coming home.
I have to work the weekend of July 19th and 20th But the rest as far as I know are free...

But Don't plan around me either, the only one I missed has been Kia's birthday last year (:() b/c I was in Chicago. Let Majority rule.

I know that this year at the park over Memorial day was not last last year at all. But I am not sure what the 4th would be.

I am pretty certain that I will not be able to make it on July 4th. The family is supposed to have a big get together and if I don't make that my parents will probably have my head...lol. I'll check with the family to make sure that is still on. Either way I have already put my request in at work and that doesn't even mean I will get that day off. Don't plan around me though. Like the others have said go with the majority. I will always be able to make it to others.

Both #6 and #7 are "paid for" by someone else on Sunday, July 4th!

But #7 *IS* available for the Holiday MONDAY - July 5th...

So Dad RESERVED Pavilion #7 for MONDAY, July 5th!

*OR* - we could have Pavilion #7 on the SATURDAY - July 3rd...
But gotta know *QUICK* to change it before someone grabs the 3rd...

I changed my previous post to reflect that I meant weekends in June not July for Kia's b-day. :)

I would rather stay in Ohio. My parents wouldn't want to drive all the way to a PT meeting in Michigan. I know for sure I can't come to the july 4th, we are having a big family get-together. I'll have to check with those other days though. :)

Is there any chance of putting together a MI meeting within the 5th-15th of July? (That's normally the times we stay in MI, not including before the 4th or on the 4th..)

I don't know when we're leaving to go, but I figured sometime AFTER the 4th would be better for a meeting than before... so I left those dates out.

Monday the 5th doesn't work for me at all.
I will have to work that day. We at the hospital honor the holiday on the 4th and it's back on Monday the 5th. And I don't have enough vacation time after my grandma's funeral to use for it.
I would be able to do the 3rd or the week after would work better for me. (And it sounds like a lot of other people also)

Holiday weekend - we SHOULD decide purty Quick-Like -

Well scratch the weekend of June 20th. Not only is it Father's Day but also NASCAR at Michigan International Speedway. :eek: Can't miss that! :rolleyes: :D

Looks like we're leaning more towards June 26th or 27th. Need to check with Andy and see what works best for him and our families. I'd like my parents to be able to come out and check out the Bark Park. :)

I think we should do it the next weekend, Phred. I just don't think that weekend would be good for a lot of people. There are more 'probably not's' then Probably's.
But then we will miss Carl coming home from FL :( But Maybe Diana and I can have a mini PT meeting ;) and Amy's crew.

I have not posted because living here in Findlay I can pretty well make it any time. Carl will be home the 4th but that isn't a good enough reason to have a meeting. Any weekend will be good for me and my crew.

two Sundays - July 11 and July 18...
July 25 is NOT available - Parks is holding a Big
"2nd Annual Hancock Heritage Days Festival"
on July 24 & 25 - BIG Crowd in the Park and
Parking can't be guaranteed so they just won't allow reservations.

If we want #7 on either July 11 or 18 -
we need to "Reserve" it pretty Quick-Like!

The Mundane Info:

Where: Orion Oaks Bark Park
When: SATURDAY, June 26th
Time: Roughly 1:00 p.m.

The Bark Park entrance is located on Joslyn Rd. (exit 83 off of I-75) between Waldon Rd. and Clarkston Rd.

A day or annual permit is needed to PARK in the Bark Park lot, but no permit is needed for the dogs. Day permits are sold at the Main Entrance to Orion Oaks Park on Clarkston Rd., between Baldwin and Joyslyn Rd.

I'm not sure if the 'guard' to the Bark Park lot sells day passes or not. I'll ask him next time we go.

Having a permit will not guarentee a spot in the lot. It is small and can fill up quickly, especially on nice days.

Canterbury Village is less than a mile south of the Bark Park. Andy and I have parked there and walked to the Bark Park. It's a nice walk. There is also a school parking lot just Northeast of the Bark Park entrance. I've parked there before too. We've recently been told that anyone parking in the school lot will be ticketed, but we've had no problems.

So, for those that don't want to risk that, I have no problems shuttling those that want to park at Canterbury to the Bark Park and back, if you don't want to walk.

Orion Oaks' Bark Park offers seven fenced acres with lake access for dogs to swim, wide-open spaces, woods and fields; drinking water is available on site.

Okay. Elvis is 4 months old. How old does a puppy need to be to get in the park? What do we bring? if I came it would just be Elvis. Katie isn't too great with tons of dogs.

I'm pretty sure July 18th would work for me. As of right now it looks like both me and Alden would be able to come that day. That is not a 100% guarantee though.

If that is not what the majority is though, don't worry about us we will be able to make it to another one.

Amber -- Puppies have to be atleast 16 weeks of age, so yes he's old enough. You'll have to register and get a permit for the Findlay dog park to be able to go.

Yesss! Im glad he's old enough!

lol, yeah I know Im always asking...But it seems so complicated

It's not. All you have to do is fill out the forms properly, send in the 10 dollars along with the form, and you're set. They'll send your permit in the mail or have you pick it up at the park office.

You of course, have to have proof of vaccinations/shots, as well as tags. That's not complicated either.

All we did was take a picture of the reciepts we recieve each vet visit, which lists the shots they recieved, and printed it out.

Yes, Amber if it too complicated for you have one of your parents read it. It is NOT hard. You just have to do it!

I am pretty sure have to work the weekend of the 17th and 18th. So I won't be able to make it that weekend. But I will double check tomorrow.

I'm sorry we haven't responded much. Right now our weekends are so busy, I don't know when we could make one. I don't think there is anything planned for the18th if thatis still an option, but ust about everything before and after through Aug 1 is taken. So much to do, so little time!!! Maybe if we had 4 day work weeks EVERY week!

I have to work the weekend of July 17th and 18th but if that is what rules for majority, Keegan and I could come later. I would get off at 3 that day, and it isn't like I live tooooo far away! ;)

I will be in Williamsburg VA the weekend of the 17th and 18th. But I'll be thinking of all ya' all. Maybe my babysitter will bring Gabbie out to the festivities.

Checking in to see what is going on. Have we set an official date yet? Hoping to find out soon so I can make sure to get my request in at work. The sooner I get it in the better.

Alden and I are on vacation 7/18 -7/25. Those weekends work great for us. Any other weekend I need to get a request in at work.
