and no I don't particulary like it.
I'm confused. What about veal?
I've only had veal patties, but that was when I was young and required to eat what my parent's served. I hated it...yuck!!
Now that I know what it is and how inhumanly they treat those poor, baby cows, I couldn't be paid to eat it. :( :(
Read this:
Warning: A bit graphic

I'm assuming you mean veal.
I have tried it once, and surprisingly, it was very good.
I only had it that one time though.
I copied and pasted this from that site.
To help stop veal calf abuses, don't buy or eat veal, and tell friends, relatives, and neighbors why. Tell restaurant managers about veal cruelties and ask them to remove veal from their menus. Also, don't buy or eat dairy products, because of the dairy industry's role in veal production. Ask your state legislators to sponsor bills that would prohibit the use of veal crates.
Just another thing you can do to help stop animal cruelty.:)
I do eat veal once in a blue moon.................I have no idea how they treat them. :o I'll read the article though, in fear of never eating it again. We don't buy veal or any meat from regular stores though, so the veal we eat on occasion is not from the main meat industry. It may be treated differently. I do like veal..........much more than beef, but I prefer sheep or goat. I'm more of a chicken person than a red meat person anyway. Guess I'm off to read it then. :o
:(
I've never had veal.
I haven't eathier, but when I heard how they treat the calf, that pissed me off.
*I'm not targeting anyone who has had viel. I just don't like the way they make it.*
No, and I never will.
Never had it and never will.. yuck!
No, the ingestion of fabric doesn't appeal to me, especially the scratchy gauzy types they make veils out of. It seems like they'd scratch up your throat on the way down.
Actually, I've only eated Veal once. Once I learned about it I boycotted it.
Nowhere that I know of do veal calves live a humane life. The entire point behind veal is that the calves have not been allowed to move for their entire life, making the meat extra...whatever it is.

I'm never eating veal again! :(
That is SO sad!! I'll stick with sheep and chicken. At least I know where my sheep and chicken come from and have seen them at their *source* myself.........the farm that supplies them to stores we buy meat from.
Serious indigestion.Quote:

My mom educated me on the cruelty of veal a long time ago. She never bought it, and wouldn't let us order it at a restaurant. So, thanks to her, I've never had it. (Go Mom!!!!) :)
thats really sick and disgusting how they make that :( I will NEVER eat that. My aunt educated me on this 4 days ago, and told me to promise her that I will never eat it. I don't ever want to eat it:( I don't even want to say the word that is so sick.
I'm glad that all of you are on my side!
Cookiebaker, what a good mom!;)
Thanks everyone!
I don't eat beef too much anymore primarily because of the price. As for veal, even if it was cheap, I still wouldn't buy it. There just something about eating baby cows that does not sit right and I have also heard about the cruelty issue.
No; my dad would always cook it for me when I was younger, but I never liked the taste. But, considering I do eat meat and dairy, I am supporting the killing of probably countless calves every year. I'll admit that much.
OMG! Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha! LOVE IT!Quote:

Thanks for the laugh, I needed that today!
And for the record, I do eat veal and never will.
Me too. I've had veal a few times, but I've never really liked the taste. Then I found out about the 'production' of veal a few years ago and haven't had it again since.Quote:

I used to eat veal ... until I learned about what those poor calves are put through.
Now, I will never eat it again.
I used to eat veal all the time as a kid. But then I spent the summer at my uncle's house in upstate New York. I made friends with a girl who's dad was a dairy farmer. I actually witnessed the birth of a calf and bottle fed it. I was in love. Then some guys came and took the calf away in a burlap bag. They told me why. I have never touched veal again! And since I've read all about the abuses of baby calfs, I'll never EVER touch it!
I've never conciously ate veal... can't remember if it was ever served to me as a child.
Thankfully I've never seen it on a menu at the restaurants I frequent. :)
I've never eaten veal and don't have any interest in trying it.
However, I eat dairy products and will continue to do so. I think that article is being a bit extreme to ask people to stop consuming dairy products.
Ok I will be the lone voice I eat veal and love it. of course I eat only the ones my folks raise. It has flavor and it very good. Most meats you buy from the stores are flavorless in my opinion. My folks would by our meat animals from a jersey dairy farmer (the breed not the place) He breed his cows to Angus bulls (smaller calves for them) . we would go to the auction and get calves (mom would always get thre sick ones! Soft heart, plus very cheap usually about 5 bucks a piece) we'd run the meds needed and one bag of milk replacer then they would be taken to the butcher. They were always gotten for the company of the beef animal they eat better if in compation. Most of these calves would have been hit in the head and left behind the auction house for the rendering plant. So we gave them a healthy 2 months they would not have had.
I was raised on a poor farm so I guess I have a different perpective than some of you.
i have never had it, and refuse to :)>

I'm also part of another website that really hates spam and people that come on the board and have never posted before and try to pass of beliefs, etc....but, since we're on this subject, I'll go ahead and post the site that someone posted on the other board. It will explain why, if someone is that adamant about not eating meat, they will probably be just as adamant about not consuming dairy products, especially if enough research is done. I still eat some red meat, although, I've only tasted veal a couple of times, and, I eat chicken every day, as well as drinking milk. But, after looking on this site, I may stop drinking milk. I'm going to start doing some more research before I take it out of my diet, though. Anyway, it's pretty graphic, so, beware.
