It stand for Love Is Evil. LOL. I joined because I'm alone this Valentine's Day, and so shall sink in self pity and pretend that I don't need love. ;)
And when you spell love backwards, it's "evol." How creepy is that? Hehe.

to add to that! !! The word "evil" can be spelled using some of the letters in Valentine!!
What Jordan said...I'm a member too. *sighs* I found it pretty creepy when Kelsey told me love is "evol" spelled backwords; and it's true. :p
ROFLOL!!! What have I and Liana started? Didn't know we had so many members!! :D
LIE is pretty much an Anti-Valentine's Day "club"... or cult haha.
Here's a website that describes it more in detail...
http://www.miccah.com/xiaoxin/lie.htm
All you pretty much have to do is be against V-Day and that stuff, and wear black on Valentine's Day if you have any black clothes...
Also another "creepy" thing to add... The day before V-Day is Friday the 13th. :p
I was wondering the same thing. Now I know! :p
Does that mean the love we have for our pets is evil too? :p :p
Course not! :D Pets are the best! LIE is more based on human relationships...like..dating and valentine's day and stuff....
I know. I was just joking around. ;)Quote:

BTW, *live* backwards REALLY spells *evil*................so are lives evil too? LOL
ROFLOL!!!!:p
so LIE doesn't mean Long Island Expressway huh? ;) gee, here i am feeling single and bitter about being single on VD (valentines day)
Count me in on this as well! I absolutely HATE valentine's day!! The older you get, the worse it gets. All it does is remind you that you don't have anyone. Glad there's more people that feel that way.
Am I the only one excited about Valentine's Day? :p
Nope, I like it! Candy for me. Even when I was single, I loved V-Day. I'd go to the store and buy myself a lot of candy and ice cream! :pQuote:

Gee, I also feel that way about Valentine's day! People "in love" spend fortunes on chocolates, roses and dinner. I'll take that $75 and use it for something I really need in lieu of 12 roses that'll die within a week, thank you. Besides... Hershey's chocolate is best anyway, so gimme 50 cents and I'll buy a bar!
But I WILL be wearing my black socks with glittery red lips on them;)
Side note: you haven't had Hershey's chooclate until its right from the factory! YUMMM! We live less than hour from there and are always in Hershey because thats where my daughter plays soccer... so I just happen to always need to "stop by Chocolate World.":D
Nope... my son is so excited - this is his first (All together now: AWWWWWW) and he had me print up a picture of the two together in a round frame with hearts. It looked so cute. I don't know what else he'll get her, but since his buget is $0 it might not be much!Quote:

I don't like how it's shoved down everyone's throat everywhere you go, but all holidays are becoming that way, so I just ignore it.
One year an old boyfriend and I totally forgot it was Valentines Day and decided to go out to dinner... when we got to the restaurant, there were women sitting in the lobby with their arms full of balloons, flowers, stuffed bears, ect. We just stood there stunned. Both of us had forgotten. We laughed, went home, made dinner and watched a movie.
Andy and I are thinking of going to the Detroit Institute of Arts with another couple this year. :)
sure if you get candy from someone:rolleyes: lol i'm just kidding! i liek valentines day..i've always lived in hope of getting candy from someone other than my dad:cool: yes....i'm very cool:pQuote:

While I totally don't agree with the "love is evil" theme, I too will be alone on Feb 14th. I have decided to remain single by choice. Valentine's Day used to really bug me but the older I get, the more I ignore all the commericalism. To me it's just another day the stores get to push up the price of roses and make the almighty buck.
However, I do send a card to my Mom and two of my best friends because I love them dearly.
I think Valentine's Day would be so much nicer if it was looked at as a celebration of love, not focusing on lovers or couples, but love overall, between family, friends, children, pets, and so on.
I remember how it used to make me feel in high school, when all the popular girls were being called to the office to pick up bouquets and balloons and candy and so on. I felt so alone and unloved. That is what V-day seems to induce for the single person. The commercial world has promoted that, implying that your love equals how extravagent a gift you get for your partner.
It's sad though, the true meaning of most holidays tends to become lost nowdays by commercialism of them.
I forgot to add something that's been bugging me -- there are tons of puppies in the paper for sale. I read on a few of them, "Early Valentine's Present!" Urgh.
I totally don't care for Valentines Day. It means nothing to me, and it never will. :p
Oh, Oh!!! Can I join????? I hate that stupid holiday. It singles us DND (Dateless Not Desperate) members out! I don't need no stinkin man to buy me flowers, candy, jewelry.
I'm dateless AND desperate. LOL.Quote:

LOL! LOL!
LOL, I was just talkingto Tonya on msn one day, and she said "I've decided that you are my future sister in law." And her brother says I'm hot, so I'm marrying him :p (See, the desperation is starting to come out here).
Talk about needing to wake up and smell the roses?
Since when was Valentines day ONLY about sexual relationships? Not in my family, nor amongst my friends either. I look at it as an opportunity (not that you need one) to express your love- romantic and non romantic to those you love!
I see it as a day to be smarmy and sappy, without consequence.
Since chances are that we won't be changing the world's perception of Valentine's day anytime soon, why not change your orientation to it?
I'm with Cataholic on this one! When I was a kid my mother would always give me a gift on Valentine's Day ....and it was always something pink or red. Sappy...I suppose....but a nice memory....and I always send a card to my parents!
I spent many a Valentine's Day without a date. So? I'll never be a mother but that doesn't mean I think Mother's Day is stupid!
And, one of those things associated with Valentine's day around here- donate blood, give the gift of life to someone else.
I don't hate it because I think its associated only with a couple's relationship...............I just don't think its neccessary because those who you love should know you love them every day.......not just once a year. :o I don't think you need a *day* for that.
Same with mother's day, and father's day. I think my parents should know that I love them everyday, not just on those particular days. But of course, that's just me. :p
It's supposed to be a celebration of that love, like birthdays are a celebration of your birth. Of course I know I'm loved and am special but I still enjoy birthday cards and being made to feel extra special sometimes :).
I don't like the commercialism of days like Valentine's day or Mother's Day etc., but I like the original ideas and intent behind them.
I do hate the couple aspect of it. For those of us that would like to be part of a couple, it just makes you feel bad for not having someone special. Especially when you have to work and someone else on your shift gets flowers. Makes you feel just wonderful. One year, Duke gave me a valentine. Now that was a special one.
I've always called it "Single Awareness Day." :p
I'm single, always have been single, and very aware of it. ;)
Iīm single ... LOL Iīm just 15 :D
I think Valentineīs day is for the, who has their boyfriends/girlfriends .... I donīt think this day is stupid, but sometimes this all is bit boring....
Why we just couldnīt celebrate VD with our family? :D
I don't like Valentines day! But, I will be buying all my friends a brownie (what our school does for people on V-day) so that when they come hand them out they don't feel stupid being the only ones who don't have a brownie  Hee hee! I also bought one of my friends who's nickname is Ape, and Ape that holds a banna that says I'm Banna's over you.
LOL
Ashley
Personally, I don't care for Valentine's Day.
Not because it's "lovey dovey", and I don't have a human companion to share it with, but because I really see no point in it.
Yeah ok, it was cute to celebrate in 5th grade, as well as Easter, Mom's Day, Dad's day, St Patties day... but really it's just another day anymore.
Although, I think this "L.I.E" stuff is a bit stupid (No offense), just MHO. Especially since most of you are still in your teens. :p
LOL. I am with you. :DQuote:

Crossing out "Valentine's Day" on calendar, writing "Single Awareness Day" on it instead.
When I was single, A bunch of us formed an informal group called "Pathetically Single" and would all get dolled up and meet up for dinner on Valentaine's day. We'd give each other balloons and trade goofy gifts and then head out dancing.Quote:

One year we spied on our friend's date with the woman that is now his wife... we were wearing all black and stalking through the bushes outside his house! Of course he caught on, but it was all in fun!
I miss those Valentine's Days more than you'd ever know! Sure, my husband is great, but there's a high you get from being with your friends, all comiserating together!

Well, since you recognize you are alive everyday, should you stop celebrating your birthday?
We celebrate Independence Day, even though every knows the significance of July 4, Christmas, even though most people recognize the symbolism of Christ's Birthday..
AND, since when do we become too 'old' to celebrate holidays? It is a rememberance, a 'celebration', an honoring, whatever you want to call it. AND, if some people need an excuse to show their love (on any day), so what? I hope I am never too old to enjoy any holiday. For my family, it is an excuse to get together, a reason to call, a reason to send a card, when we might not otherwise. No one loves anyone any less if something doesn't happen, but, it is NICE! It feels GOOD! Enjoy it.
And, even if I am not knee deep in a relationship, it makes me feel so good to see my friend, my collegue, my coworker, or a stranger on the street, for that matter, experience happiness in the form of flowers at work, candy, a card, a hug, whatever. My social status isn't lessened because they are getting something I am not (and, NO, I am not referring to that..he he he).
It is all a matter of changing your perspective on it.
I'm not THAT crazy about Valentine's Day...but this year, I can't wait for it to be here:p I don't know why though, LOL...;)
LOL Di
Okay well first off I believe that love can be beautiful if it is real love. I only "joined" this for fun and yes it is pretty stupid but it is just for fun. I don't like the way people make it a point that Valentines' Day is only for couples. On Valentine's Day my parents usually gets us something and we make something for them. And this Valentine's Day, we celebrate 1 year and 4 months with Mickey. How great is that. :D I just "joined" out of pure fun. I don't think Love is Evil and I was so shocked when I found out that there was an actual website and cult called L.I.E. with people actually against love.
Just wanted to clear out "my membership" ;)
Good point, Cataholic. You do need a day to really celebrate love. But as always, it has been twisted around into some commercial day to buy things. That I don't agree with.
