Music groups you grew up with

I know a lot of us are going to be showing our ages on this :) I got to thinking how much fun I had talking about the old board games we all played. So, I thought I'd tell you some of my favorite bands/people I listened to going through school. I can't remember them all of course but some are still around! Here goes: Just copy and paste this list then add on to it.

I know there's more but I've gotten about all I can get. When I'm not listening to 93.3 Flz in Tampa or 106.7 in Orlando, I listen to 101.5 the Point in Tampa. They play a lot of songs from that time in my life.

The songs I grew up with were No Doubt, Backstreet Boys (:p), Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Our Lady Peace (during the 'Superman's Dead' time), Green Day, and a few more. I hate so many of these artists now, lol.

But nothing beat the "Dirty Dancing" soundtrack!! :D I still sing along when I hear the songs. Lol.

I used to watch Donny and Marie's show! And what about Sonny and Cher??

Oh yeah Michael Jackson too...I loved his cassette....I can't remember the name. The one with "It doesn't matter if your black or White" song on it.

I don't really remember Sonny and Cher on TV...just what I have seen in clips on other shows. Donny and Marie were my favorites though...I even had Barbie-like dolls of them :)

The first MJ I had was Thriller (on record!)...back when he was black...."Black or White" was a little later, as his skin was fading to white :)

I was teaching Junior High when No Doubt became popular!

I was doing my student teaching when NKOTB was at their peak. Worse yet I was in Boston and they were a Boston group!

I've been listening to the Beatles before I can remember. We used to play "Magical Mystery Tour" every Thanksgiving.

Hmm...Phish was a big favorite in my house. They Might be Giants, Green Day, Smashing Pumpkins, Bob Dylan.

There's more I'm just to lazy to write them down:p :D

yep, grew up (teen years, anyway) in the '60s - in San Francisco
spent most of the '70's in New England (if you know these bands, you'll note there's a pretty wide time span there) Actually, I lived around a lot of musicians in the '70s in Massachusetts but theses aren't well known bands - just local at the time, I guess - except for NRBQ

of course, the list goes on (I'm still growing up :D :cool: ) but I'll stop there -

I was in high school in the 60's and there was of course Elvis, Rick Nelson, Dion and the Belmonts, The Supremes, The Platters, etc. the Beatles were just coming on the scene in my junior year in high school.... :o Oops how could I forget - Frankie Avalon, Fabian, Bobby Rydell (all South Philadelphia native sons! ) and of course The Four Seasons ~ Frankie Valli! Now there was a guy who could hit those high notes better than I could! :) Also Roy Orbison (RIP)!

I think the only group I think that was missed from the 70's was Pink Floyd. You guys have good memories! :)

The first time I started noticing Meat Loaf is when
is stared in the, Rocky Horror Picture show movie.

Let's see: many of the above, plus ELP, Yes, Kansas, Pink Floyd, Jethro Tull, CSN in various incarnations, The Grateful Dead (RIP, Jerry). (I saw all of the above in concert at least once.) I also liked Kiss because they were just SO outrageous!:D

I agree and since I've already given away my age on several occasions, you should already know that I grew up in the 60's and 70's and if I were to list all the groups I listened to it would be way too much reading.
