Meet Dale!! The newest addition to our family!! (Where is MOCHA, you ask??)

....i know you are all wondering...where is MOCHA?? Well, we were thinking the whole time that we wanted a female and a layed back female...since we have Christian. When we arrived at the breeders house, he handed us Mocha and then gave us the option of thinking about possible taking this male puppy instead (who was still available). He said he didnt want to make the decision for us. So that was the hardest decision ever!! But we were lucky to have been able to spend a ton of time with both of them on Friday and Saturday. Well needless to say, Dale picked us!! We just couldnt leave without him. Mocha was very reserved and almost shy. Swissies are laid back breed to begin with , but her temperment led me to believe that she would have been too shy for Christian. Dale was just soooo friendly and a major people person!! We are so lucky.

He slept pretty much the whole ride home (7-8 hours). Didnt whine hardly at all. Peed and pooped at the rest stops. And ALREADY walks well on a leash. He slept the whole night (in the crate next to our bed with NOT a peep out of him)!!,...woke, took him outside and he peed. ate and then pooped outside and peed again. We let him play a bit in and outside, took him back in, ptu him in the crate for a nap...whined a little, but then fell asleep. When he woke, i took himoutside and played again and he peed again!

Anyway, he is named after Dale Jr. (from NASCAR)...my hubby's fave driver! He is already laying with Christian and Christian already says his name. They WILL be the best of friends FOR SURE...he is just too friendly!! Hope you enjoyed and i will post more pics later...

Oh, Robyn, I get to be the first to congratulate you!

What a surprise that your little baby girl turned out to be a little baby boy, but then those puppies do do the picking, don't they?
Dale is absolutely beautiful and from what you say has a disposition to match his looks.

Your hubby did a good job in naming the little guy too. Dale seems to suit him perfectly. (Dale Earnhardt, Jr. was in our town this past Thursday at the Gander Mountain Store. You should have seen the traffic from people wanting to meet him. )

Again, congratulations on the new member of your family and thank you for sharing all the excitement leading up to this event. But just because you have this added responsibility in your life, it doesn't excuse you from keeping us updated on each and every development.

Yes that is me holding my granddog! What a precious bundle of puppyness he is! I had to force myself to leave last night. He and Christian are going to be best buds!!

After a while Dale just plopped down in the home-made bed that Robyn had made for him and drifted off to puppy dreamland. Christian laid down next to him and Dale lifted up his little head and put it on Christian's shoulder and closed his eyes again. I could have died on the spot from cuteness overload!!!

While Dale slept, the kitties curiously came over and sniffed him. I thought Dandy might have been puffing up a little but then realized she is just a fluffy kitty naturally (not like my boys). I think they will be fine with Dale and he will grow up knowing them so I do think we will have a good fur family all under one roof eventually.

I have to go back over today for another dose of puppy breath and let Bella and Ripley meet their new "cousin." :)

You know, personalities mean so much in a pet. That is why I let my Aby breeder pick the cat for me. They get to deal with the little furry things from day one and get to know their personalities!

I made the comment jokingly about taking them both (it was a hard decision to pick between the two of them, but Dale's personality shined)....but the breeder said, and of course, i knew i couldnt take both also...that one would be enough for now. Being that he is such a larger breed dog (and my first one at that). But i can definitly see us making the treck back down south in a year for another :) He is such a character and loves loves loves being right by your side. He and Christian have already fell in love. I should mention the cats seem completely relaxed. He makes no attempt to go after them...they are more curious about him!!

I will try to post more pics tonight after Christian has gone off to bed (it's easier that way :))

Dale is a super cutie! I swear I can smell the puppy breath all the way over here, coming through my computer screen. ;) The pictures are breathtaking!!

p.s. The exact same thing happened when we went to pick up Malone. We were dead set on getting a girl, but Malone outshined the rest, and we brought him home instead. :p

OMG Robyn..Dale is AWESOME! What an adorable, sweet face! you're new baby is beautiful, I love the pictures of the litter. They are beautiful dogs. Just curious as to what breed they are. I love the reason for the name to. I must share with you that when we got our yellow lab last fall it took us a week to name him and believe me there were alot of Nascar names being thrown into the mix. Rusty, Elliott, not to mention we're big Dodge fans so the names Durango and Dakota came up to. needless to say the name taylor came about, it is my boyfriends favorite name for a child some day and we used it for the dog. :)

Robyn, I have certainly had you all on my mind today!!I hope that the second full day at home is going well!!! Hugs and kisses to all of your furry and "skin" kids.
