She is being re-tested for FeLV because of reoccurring mouth sores. I am scared because I personally know someone who had a cat DIE of Leukemia, and he had tested negative originally. What do I do if she is POSITIVE???????? :(

Prayers and positive thoughts are on the way for Amber.
Oh no! I sure hope Amber is OK. That will be a hard decision and I guess all would depend on what the vet says. She's already been exposed to your other cats, so if she is still healthy, not in pain, eating, etc. then I would leave things as they are. Just my opinion!
Oh Jen how awful! Prayers on the way that everything turns out OK. Try not to worry until the results come in. In the meantime, sending hugs your way and kisses to all your furbabies!
Hopeing the test come back negative. :(
:( Prayers are on the way!

Amber is NEGATIVE
Thank you all for your prayers. I am sorry for the false alarm, but I always tend to think of the worst case scenario. (I like to be prepared for the worst and then NOT have to deal with it as a surprise)
What a load off my mind.............****WHEW***
What a relief!! It must have seemed like weeks waiting for the test results.
That is great news!:D :D
Yeah!!!!! Proof once again that Pet Talk Prayers do work and miracles do happen.......
So what's causing all the mouth sores??
Thank god, Amber is well. :D
Do not know yet. I need to check in with the vet on her progress (they said to call Friday, but to be honest I don't believe the medicine could have any affect that soon and I will wait until Monday). So when I call, I will ask what we will do to find the cause. A reoccuring viral infection was one of the possibilities. Her teeth look GOOD, it is only her gums that are bad. But they think once the soreness goes away a good dental cleaning may be in order. Maybe she is just more sensitive to tiny amounts of tarter.Quote:

WHAT GREAT NEWS!!!!
I am so glad she tested negative!! What a huge relief!!

*KISSES* for Amber
Amber is on antibiotic pills (not her favorite thing). But I am also suppose to "rinse" her gums with Hexarinse twice a day. The vet actually said that trying to use it as a rinse is ...... well ....... laughable, so just put it on a Q-tip and rub her gums. Well, guess what? The cat who hates everything (brushing, nail clipping, pills.....) actually lets me squirt this stuff on her gums. (the bottle has a bent tube that squirts a stream). GO FIGURE!
Could the sores be some kind of herpes virus?? Is there a test for that??? Amber, it's so nice that you let your Meowmie rinse your gums. If I tried that with Max, I'd lose a hand. Here's hoping for an answer soon.
Hi Amber, we are so glad that you are negative. And tooth cleaning is something I have survived 3 times in my life!
Your Filou:)
Amber,
I just saw this thred! I am so grateful you tested negative. I hope they find the problem with your gums soon.
Have they thought of 'rodent ulcer'?
Glad the results were negative!!!!
Sorry I missed this earlier!
Phew, what a relief!!!! I'm so glad to hear this!!Quote:
