I'm a bit worried!

First of all, thank you everyone who send good thoughts towards Mickey and his operation.

This morning we brought him in. He was calm up until the doctor put him up on the table to check him out. Then he started freaking out and got started jumping around. He had never acted that way before.

Anyway, the doctor weight Mickey (22lbs) and then set him up on the table to examine him.
Then he went to check out his testicles. He said he only found one and that the other may be in his stomach. If he doesn't remove it, it could become cancerous. But he told us he might just not be able to find it. I'm a little worried. What if they don't completly remove it? I'm a worry-wort so I'm thinking up anything that could happen. What if he developps cancer later on anyways.
Did anyone elses' dog have this problem? I'm so worried :(:(
ps~we can pick him up at 5pm

Both Oz and Murph had testicles that didn't drop. My vet couldn't
really find them, when he was just feeling for them either, but
never said it would be a problem finding them, once he started
operating. And he did find them on both dogs. Murph is close to
13 and he hasn't developed any cancer *knock wood*. So try
not to worry too much about Mickey. It's more than likely gonna
be okay.

I am no doggie expert, but, I think non disended testicles are pretty dern common. So, freak not, little freak. As to Mick'ster going crazy at the vets...not uncommon. He might have been picking up on your anxiety. So, ten deep breaths, use the time to make Mickey's special area all fresh and clean, and your pupster will be home before you know it!!

Yes, Mickey must have sensed something was going to happen. They gave him the tranquilizer after and he started getting sleepy. lol

My mom just called and they said all went well. He got stitches and the cost was a bit more so that means his testicle was in his stomach. My dog's always gotta be the different one :rolleyes:

My mom alos cleaned both his beds so he can have a nice, clean place to sleep when he gets back. I can't wait. I've been missing him all day!

Cryptorchidism is a condition in which one or both testicles have nat descended into the scrotum, the sac containing the testicles. Procedure to retrieve the testicle(s) is simple, with high success rate. :D

Sounds to me like everything went OK!! Pretty soon the Mickster will be home with you, where he belongs!!!

We went to get Mickey and he's in his cage just laying down, looking miserable. He threw up on himself at the vets and stank. He was good enough to let me wipe off what I could though. :)

We have to return in about 15 days to get the stitches removed. He's been very quiet and slow in motion. I know he wants to play but then he just sits back down. Poor baby :( We got a nice banadana from the vets though. I think it'll go with his coat very well ;)

I couldn't find kai's second one for a while...but about 2 months ago, I noticed both were there when i was coming him. He's just a late bloomer..I'm glad everything went well with Mickey =]

Awwwww, Mickster, you've had a big day, sweetie. But with all of those sweet smelling, freshly cleaned beds, a new bandana and all that love being heaped on ya, I think you're going to do just fine!:) The anesthesia and the after-effects are the worst part of the ordeal, but by tomorrow, you should be feeling tons better! Undescended testicles are very common, in dogs and humans! As others have said, "not to worry!" Hugs and kisses to you precious one from Sandra, Cody and Star:)

So glad everything is a ok with mickey. Just remember to try and keep him calm for the next several days. And with a sheltie that is going to be a touch job. But you can do it. Keep smiling and give mickey a big pat and kiss on the head from the whole gang here. All 7 are keeping their paws crossed for a speedy recovery.

He was a bit miserable last night but doing much better. We don't make him run but I've been trying to get him to move around a bit more. When will it be okay to start up again with playing our usual games like fetch or soccer? Will I just notice that he seems back to his playful self?

He let us look at his stitches today. Poor boy has them up his stomach too. :( He doesn't bite at them but licks them. Is this okay or should we ask about the cone anyways?

And yes, Mickey got pampered today. If it wasn't the cookies it was a nice scratch or something else! ;) I'm sure he'll be fine. Thanks again! :D

Glad to hear you're doing better, sweetie!!:) I'm sure you're being pampered and loved to the max!! I think you should try and take it easy though until those sutures come out...about 7-10 days. No soccer or ball playing yet; don't wanna rip yer zipper!!;) And a few licks won't do any harm, but if you start nibblin or lickin too much, well, we just might have to make you a "cone head!":D Have a good night, sweet Mickey. Kito wasn't supposed to do steps, jump on the bed, or anything like that--well, we lived on the second floor, and he slept in our bed--I carried him up the steps the first couple of days, but after that he started doing it himself:rolleyes:
I think licking his stitches is ok, as long as he doesn't start biting them--then it's time for the cone!!!!!!!!!!!!

Before his operation Mickey was able to do stairs no problem. Now, he hesitates a lot before he moves. He can go up okay, but taking the first step down always takes a lot of "Go down, Mickey!" and maybe even a little push. I know for a fact that he is afraid of heights. (his nose leaks everytime he gets off the ground unless he's in the arms). I'm just confused. Is it because of the operation he's taking so long before he goes down the stairs? Will he grow out of it? I'm thinking maybe he might feel the stitches and doesn't wanna rip them...?? lol, I'm not too sure. Any feedback? Thanks :)

When Max was fixed many moons ago, we were told not to play with him for 1 week & that he couldn't run for 2 weeks... we had to keep him in his kennel alot or had to make him lay on his chair alot... My mom removed his stitches because they were way way too tight & were ripping through the skin. My moms a nurse & she called the vet ahead of time & he ok'd it.

He's probably not doing the steps because of the stitches. We were told not to let Kito do steps, but he only let me carry him for a day or 2, and then he was doing them himself, and he never ripped his stitches.

ok, but just make sure they don't rip open, thats why were couldn't play with Max, it needed a week to heal properly

yes it is, people, dogs, cats, hamsters, and even horses can get inverted testies. it is quite common.

My hamster Whisky has inverted Testicals.
