New toy....<pics>
I found this nifty toy on sale at Petco....it's made by Kong, I'm not sure what it's called. Nebo really likes it, and it's easy to throw....
Yes, too easy to throw......over the fence...
Ok, this story may only be funny "if you were there" but I'll tell it anyway. So I'm trying out this new toy, taking the pics you will find below, actually. I had a few "close calls" with the fence.....and then the real one.....somehow I managed to throw it straight in the air, it bounced off the tree and smacks down into the neighbors yard.
It made a really loud noise, and I believe it landed in this corner with a shed and a large pile of junk. The neighbors have a large shar-pei mix dog. I'm sure she's a nice dog if the owners are around, but she barks constantly, and acts very aggressive when you come close to the fence.
So, obviously, I wasn't about to climb the fence after it....we decided to take a walk around the block and ring the doorbell and ask if they'd get it for us.
We rang the doorbell...twice....nobody there....except for a very loudly barking dog. We were pretty annoyed, figuring we'd have to come back later, or try and call....
We had just started down the street when I happened to turn around....here comes the big dog running toward the side fence (some type of wire) excitedly with that TOY in her mouth! She looked at me...then dropped it, even with part of sticking through the fence!! LOL. Good dog! :p

Lucy would prefer to play tug of war than retreive too...she'll tug on anything, even her own leash :rolleyes:
It's lucky Nebo has such good doggy pals around the neighbourhood who'll help him out when he's lost his toys ;)

That's a great story, Amy. I have had to do a bit of *retrieving* myself from the neighbor's yard. Never have had any of their dogs do it for me though.

Drake has one of those. It's a retreiving stick. Drake loves it when we throw it in the water for him and he has to swim to get it!! So much fun!!

Nebo looks adorable like always. It seems like he found a toy that might last a little longer than others. I saw that at petsmart the last time I went. Looks like lots of fun.

When I began training (laughs) Bob in gun-dog retrieving the only type of dummys that were easily obtainable were expensive, so I made on myself out of denim filled with sand for weight, lasted about two weeks! So, I went and bought a `proper` one made of canvas, that lasted about 3 weeks! So I gave up, on the dummys, and the training, it wasn`t going well anyway! :D The dummys you can get now, like Nebo`s are just great, and, as Souraya said, good for water too!
