Goodbye gentle Mike

Mike had been going down hill for a few days. I just talked to the vet.
Where before he had loved being petted, he got agressive and not responding to meds. His head tilt was worse and he wouldn't eat. He is suffering and she can't help him. She had tested him for feline leukemia and that other disease which I can't remember the name of. He was negative for those.

She said she is afraid he has rabies. She just has a gut feeling about it. So she suggested he has to be put down. She will send him off to be checked after he is gone. Poor baby he fought so hard.

Mike I am so sorry I let you down. Ike will meet you at the bridge with your other little sibby. :(

Oh no! I am doing everything I can to not burst into tears here at work. :(
I am so sorry. You did everything (and then some) for him. He will be reunited with his brother at the bridge and they can romp around and play together forever.

Rest in peace, little Mikie. You and your sibbies are together again and no longer suffering.

I am so very sorry, MoFF. You tried everything you could, and Mike fought so hard too. You have done so much for this little family of kitties and for so many others. It is especially sad to lose Mike after things seemed to be looking up so much for him.

ETA: I just read your post in Cat General. Rabies can take a while to show up - or maybe his little body just couldn't fight off the infections any more.

MoFF, my heart breaks for you. There isn't any doubt in my mind that Mike knew the love in your heart for him, and the others that you do so much for. Your compassionate heart was known.

MOFF, you didn't let Mike down. I know it feels that way b/c when we try everything and it doesn't work, we feel as though we should've tried just one more time. But everyone has their time and this, unfortunately, was Mike's. RIP sweet, gentle Mike and peace to you, MOFF and all who love him. :love:

I'm so sad about this! At the same time, it was all done for him out of love, and Mike got to go to the Rainbow Bridge in a very humane way, NOT being left out in the cold cruel world to die alone and unloved and suffering horribly to the end. He is with his sibling now, and will be waiting to greet you with much love and appreciation! :love:

Sad to say Mom Of Furry Faces , that are some Ctas who come to us with a preexisting disease that is going to claim them no matter what we do.
I am sure Mike knows that you did for him, thta you were his one true friend in an indifferent world.
Mike has gone on ahead to be with Our Awesome Anges Army so he can find a place where you can reunite in love again.

I don't know your story, but I know your pain, and I am so, so sorry for that. It's always so very sad when our furchildren leave, even when we know that they're going to a place of pure Love and happiness. May Mike's Creator, who knows your loving heart, comfort you and lead you to peace.:love:

Went to the vets to pick up my cat carrier and the test results are back.

Mike did not have rabies!!!!! I didn't think he did but so relieved to hear it for sure.

They didn't tell her what he did have. Probably some neurological problem in which case, it wouldn't have ended well for him either.

I didnt see this thread until now. I am so sorry for your loss. I am sure you gave him love, care, and a good home. I believe you will see him again one day.
