Do I need to be connected 24/7/365? Yes. I'm a freelance photographer and artist. But my main reason? I'm deaf. How else am I going to be able to communicate with people? I don't talk on the phone. It's unbelievably tough for me to do that. It is a whole bunch of gibberish when I try. I'm thankful for email, cell phones (texting plan, of course), and computers.
