Surgery 5/4 - prayers for me please...

On Wednesday I am having surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff. I have been waiting for this surgery since January when I found out about the tear. The pain is tolerable most days but when I use the arm/shoulder too much, I pay for it painwise. Now that it is getting down to the wire and the surgery is day after tomorrow I am getting nervous.

This is my dominant shoulder/arm. I will be in a sling for 4-6 weeks. I don't really like having to depend upon others to take care of me so this is going to be tough. From what I have read the pain can be bad right after surgery. I have been using the mind over matter theory up until now as far as the pain goes.

I would just like some thoughts and prayers from everyone in the next month or so for a good result and speedy recovery.

My mom had rotator cuff surgery. The pain was a challenge immediately afterward but after the first couple of days she felt much better. She'd been in a lot of pain before the surgery though.

I have heard the pain might be bad the first couple of days. I have been in pain with this since December so I am looking forward to getting it resolved.

Prayers coming your way, Helen. I know the anticipation is always awful. I understand too, how hard it is to ask for help when you're independent. Believe me, I buckled down and began to enjoy it. I deserved it and you do too! So milk it!!! Enjoy the painkillers. I'm sure the surgery will go fine. Will you go to PT,,er..physical therapy afterwards?
