I have no idea what kind of bird this is, but he sure is bright and colorful! A nice treat on a grey, blah Chicago day.

Wow, seems like every color of the rainbow!
Imagine living where those are common.
I know it is a lorikeet, not sure which one. Maybe you can figure it out!

Here's another one that gets a squee of its own! How cute is this!? It's from the article Freedom posted for me. What a treat to see such colorful birds during a yucky weather week in Chicago.

(blue crowned lorikeets)
Such pretty birdies! Both of them, blue crowned lorikeets and the Gouldian Finch :love::)
:) That is a Very Pretty Bird.. I will bet it was someone's pet & got out of the house somehow..
LOL! What a beautiful bird. Have never had a bird of my own but they do fascinate me. :)
Beautiful! Yes, he's a Goulden Finch. They're lovely little birds and quite expensive to by as a pet. We had a few rescued ones at my old job.
What is interesting about the Gouldian finch ( aka Rainbow Finch) is the Males can have three different colored heads.

Wow, Kokopup! Thank you for pointing that out to me!
I haven't seen very many birds around here lately, even sparrows. I'll be glad when the weather gets better and the birds return!
Wow!!! Those birds are beautiful!
I have met some ugly women and some few handsome men.
Yes, that is quite the bird, hope you did plenty of research on him and take care of him well. Although I can not tell you what kind of bird he is, I can at least tell you he probibly lives in Africa or South America. Alot of times, I wish wonderfull birds such as this one lived in the U.S.A, but then I think they do, and they live right in my own home.
Here's another one... wow!
Lilac-breasted Roller
http://cheezdailysquee.files.wordpre...ed1b521c73.jpg
Had to see where they live - "The Lilac-breasted Roller, Coracias caudatus, is a member of the roller family of birds. It is widely distributed in sub-Saharan Africa and the southern Arabian Peninsula, preferring open woodland and savanna; it is largely absent from treeless places." and "The sexes are alike in coloration." for once!
That is one beautiful bird with all those pastel feathers. Wow!
Thank you for birdie pics!! All those colors. . .so beautiful!! If they're not making me laugh then I'm wondering at the pure beauty of birds. But then again, I'm a little bit partial!!
:D
Oh My! Such beautiful birds... have never seen any like that before on tv or anywhere. Those colors are spectacular!
I'm lucky to live in the country where we have lots of different birds and I feed them sunflower seeds... Kay in NC
An aussie sunset with the sound of Bellbirds ;)
