Some outdoor pics with my new cam

Been busy the last couple of days; I got a new (second hand) pc, and it took a while until I had everything running again. But I was also taking some photos, wanted to capture the fall before all the leaves fall down. And I guess this has been my last chance this year, as they predicted a lot of rain for the next days.

Okay, here are my first outdoor shots with my new Canon EOS 450. I'm still having some problems with the sharpness, especially with the depth of field, but I'm working on it.

Sadly it rained nearly non-stop here as soon as the leaves turned. Nearly all of them fell off before I could make it out to take some pictures. :( Maybe next year...

Well, I'm afraid those were the last fall pictures of 2009! It's grey and misty now, and the remaining leaves will soon fall down...

You take such beautiful pictures! And Germany looks like such a beautiful place. Is that a gravestone in picture 3?

I am no critic of photography - but I know I look at many of your pictures and just have to say WOW and stare for awhile. I think it is often because of the camera angle maybe? They are just stunning and make me stop and look, wondering why some photos are so appealing and what stories they are telling... I suppose that is what makes you a good photograher!!:D

Kirsten - you WOW me with every pic you take. I've never seen a bad one yet!! I wish I had your talent. :cool:

Beautiful pictures, Kirsten. Especially the first four. You must be happy with your new camera, although with the other one you got some good pictures too. ;)

Thank you for your comments everyone! Well, I still need a lot of practice with the new camera, though. It may not show up in the pictures, but in their original size, you can see that there's a shallow depth of field. Need to learn to improve that.

And speaking of angles: I'm never sure about those, have the feeling that I need to improve my skills there, too. Guess I'm going to take some lessons in dslr photography next spring. :)

No, not a gravestone, but a boundary stone. It's marking the Hessian/Lower Saxonian border (two German federal states).

Yes, they are. In Hann. Muenden, Lower Saxony, which is right in the middle of Germany. :)

Yes, we have some beautiful areas here, and you'll have everything from sea shores to mountains. :) Here, where I'm living, we're having lots of forests, and rivers. And very old houses, like these:
