Massacre at nursery in Belgium

This is all to much for words.Whoever touches children, touches my heart!! I absolutely :mad:hate that man!! Even is his own life is a mess, he has NO right whatsoever to hurt young innoscent kids...:mad:!!! I am so in shock right now...

To those 2 babies and 1 nurse who died, RIP !!!
To all those who survived, in shock, I wish them all the best and I hope they will all be able to cope with this horrible massacre....:(

I heard about that, and thought about you. They will all be in our prayers.

What an unimaginable tragedy.

OMG, I am completely in tears. This is just too horrible. I can't even......I don't know what to say.
I just keep imagining when I worked in day care. Ugh, more tears......
All of these babies, care givers and families are in my thoughts. :(

What a sick piece of trash this guy is. The article says he wasn't on drugs. Perhaps he has a mental condition that needed proper medication. Could someone inside the daycare have known him to let him in so easily?

It's such a tragedy. :( The guy who did it had serious mental problems, he went there and said he wanted to ask a question. They let him in, even though he had painted his face white, and around his eyes, black.

My thoughts go the parents.

That guy has extreme mental problems to do what he did. It enrages me to think of a man marching into a nursery, stabbing babies and their caretakers alike, both whom cannot defend themselves. He can go die in a hole along with all the others that have commited similar crimes :mad:.

My deepest condolences for the parents.

When psychiatrists come to the conclusion that he cannot be hold responsible for his acts, he can be interned into a psychiatric clinic :rolleyes:. I am so much against this, because I am convinced that he knew VERY well what he was doing:mad: !! Inside his backpack he had several knifes and an axe, and he was wearing a bulletproof vest..! In my opinion this monster should be condemned for planned murders in first degree :mad::mad::mad: !!!

My town is only about 20 km from Dendermonde, where this massacre took place :eek::eek:

Gosh, I heard about this incident. I felt ill after hearing the details. Mental illness treatment is not what it was in the past and many of the people should not be living in the general population. The big problem is that who is to decide who is inside and who is allowed outside?

I feel very sorry for the relatives and the children witness to the crimes. Oh my gosh, they will never get over it, I am sure. Damaged for life.

Such an evil person.

One reason I would like to see him in a psych ward is that he can't apply for parole. I don't care WHERE he is locked up as long as he STAYS there!:mad:

Tha silent march yesterday was overwelming...!! So many adults and even more children put flowers and cuddly toys at the entrance of the nursery:( So sad...
In my opinion, most of people only mourn for the 3 victims who died. But I am sure that those who saw it and survived it (hurt or not) need even more sympathy! How on earth can f.e. a 1 or 2 year old kid cope with what they went through??? Will they ever fell safe again? Won't they be scared to death whenever they see a clown? Won't they be so scared whenever they see a big knife? They all saw how their little buddies and their caretakers got hurt and started bleeding.... . I pray that they will all be able to get over this and have a normal life (i DOUBT IT...).

I can bet those parents of the surviving children will NEVER take their child to day care again, EVER! I know I wouldn't. Here you think your child is in a safe environment and something tragic like this happens. :( I still just can't imagine.

Belgian admits to daycare killings, denies link to separate homicide

A young man who killed two babies and a nursing attendant in a stabbing rampage at a Belgian daycare has been linked to the slashing death of a grandmother.

Kim De Gelder, 20, is charged with killing a six-month-old boy, a nine-month-old girl and a 54-year-old caregiver last Friday at Fairyland nursery in the town of Dendermonde.

His lawyer Jaak Haentjens said De Gelder admits to the nursery killings, but denies involvement in the death of a 73-year-old grandmother on a remote farm the previous week.

De Gelder's motive for the nursery attack is unknown, Haentjens said.

"It remains a mystery," Haentjens said before his client appeared early Tuesday in front of a judge in Dendermonde. "I want to know why he did it. I am looking for the truth, whatever the truth may be."

"He obviously understands that he did something which is inhuman," said Haentjens, but he acknowledged that it was not clear whether his client felt any remorse.

Authorities said Gelder is a suspect in the elderly woman's death but has not officially been charged.

Investigators said they found blueprints in De Gelder's backpack of the nearby Sunshine and Toddler's Land nurseries, as well as an axe and knife.

De Gelder was placed on an energy-sustaining drip after refusing to speak or eat for three days, but began talking a bit on Monday.

He faces three murder charges and 12 attempted murder charges for the 10 children and two workers badly injured in Friday's attack.

When De Gelder entered the Fairyland nursery on Friday, witnesses said he only stated "I have a small question for you" before he began slashing his victims.

Then he calmly walked away and rode off on a bicycle before authorities arrested him outside Dendermonde, about 30 kilometres west of Brussels.

Belgian newspapers are referring to the young man as the "Joker" killer because he reportedly had painted his face white with black around the eyes. The Joker is the deranged villain in the latest Batman movie The Dark Knight and was played by late actor Heath Ledger.

Investigators said they found mascara in his backpack but it's not clear whether he intended to look like the Joker.

That is a tragedy. I know if I ever need daycare, I will choose one with better security. How sad for everyone involved. :(

Sad news.

We in the U.S. get hammered about our gun control laws when some moron goes nuts or on a rampage.

This just shows that any lunatic with a bent mind can do anyone harm with ordinary household items.

And why the children?:(:confused:
