Can anybody emergency foster this sweet boy?? I feel like we're trying to move heaven & Earth to save him. http://handicappedpet.net/helppets/v...p?f=16&t=12221
Awww, man! I HOPE someone fosters him soon! Do what jenluckenbach did - staple tarp sheeting on your floor and up the walls a couple of inches! Easy to clean!
Poor baby!
CC - do you mean he had a gun pellet lodged somewhere (bladder, urethra) and it came out - and now he's just leaking?
PRAYERS for that dear face!
He had a pellet in or near his spine, which apparently shifted and is now aggravating the nerve/s to his bladder. :(
They're keeping him in a tiled bathroom, but "he's damaging the tiles."
Whoever THEY is, can they not get a cheap tarp to put over the tiles? weigh it down with rocks in the corners if they have to!
"They" are the "adopters," and I understand they don't want to mess with poor Sherbet at all. They want him gone ASAP. I'm sure they could get a tarp, but I'm more sure they won't.
Is there a posibility that the pellet can be removed.
GILL - the answer is in part of the post on HP:I don't think the adopters would want to pay for any surgery...this little guy is "ruining the tiles" in their bathroom.:mad:Quote:
A sweet, sweet boy was driven from CA to NJ for a new home. En route, somehow a pellet he was toting moved (guessing here), allowing "pee to just run out of him." He currently living in a bathroom but is in dire need of another, less lonely circumstance, along with possible testing and/or surgery. At this point, it's almost anybody's guess what's going on, but he must be a real cutie to have put up with SO much. Can anybody foster on an emergency basis? The people that took him don't want him.
You got it--they want him GONE. We're trying to find a safe place for him to go, then maybe the pellet can come out, or whatever. Whatever happened supposedly happened during the trip, and I can only figure that the pellet moved just enough...
Edits didn't stick, but I just wanted to say that I fear greatly for this sweet boy's life. He'd last about 10 minutes at AC, and I don't think there's been any response from vets who were emailed yesterday re: boarding him for a little while.
If I had the money and the "drive gene" I'd be sorely tempted for Ari & I to just go up yonder and get him!!!!:mad:
:(
What about the place the 'owners' got him from? :(
Well, they're in CA. They have a representative in the group trying to place him, but I guess they don't have $700 to bring him back. :(
Well, the current thought is that he might come here, if we can get him here. SCI boy #3--how about that!!
How far away are you from him? I wonder if the "owners" or a friend of theirs would meet you part way?
I guess the CA people haven't found anyone?
Are there any PTrs in NJ?
PT Prayers for this little guy!
We're in VA. I drive, but I'm not "a driver;" it's been years since I drove more than 10 miles from home! I've heard he's in northern NJ, but I have NO clue how far away he is. A friend from VetPet has offered to start him on his way, by road or air, if he can get to her--75 miles away (must be near Newark--that's the airport she said).
Poor, dear, sweet Buddy, SCI boy #1, couldn't make it long-term, but, luckily, he left plenty of meds and experience in his wake.
Any word on this poor baby?
It's looking like he'll be coming down not this weekend but the next (weekend of the 25th). He's 6 hours away. I'll post when there's a transport schedule set up.
This morning I warned the only vet still with the practice that helped me with Buddy that she should dig up Buddy's records and that Milo/Sherbet may be coming down.
The people have insisted that he HAS to be out by the end of the month.
Thanks for asking!
At least the people didn't throw him out on the street...but I AM glad to hear that he is coming down. I don't recall - but I think you had offers of help with transport.
Prayers for this sweetie! I hope some surgery will fix him up.
Got any kitty diapers meanwhile? Poor Sherbert - kitties love to be clean, so I can imagine how uncomfy he is.:(
HUGS to him, and bless you for helping!
LOL! Actually, his butt will be in human diapers (lots cheaper).
PS--There's been some interest from people from Baltimore or DC southward, but the rest is still hanging, as far as I know.
If you need a driver to take him I can go as far a Baltimore.
THANKS so much GILL!! I'll pass the word to the people setting up his transport.
So you know I am NOT on line on weekends.
Good to know! Otherwise I probably would've been a bit frantic by Monday. LOL
PS-My suspicion is that they won't be operating because of the risk of more damage, but I'd like to see him on pred, although it may well be too late. Since I got laid off over a year ago, I have plenty of time to express him all the time and to chase around for appointments and all. It hadn't occurred to me that I have stuff to move out of his room, and I think I'll use Catty's tarp or shower curtain idea; I'm not sure a shower curtain, even extra large, is big enough though.
I'm also rattling around bedding ideas.
Maggie, it was Jen who came up with the tarp idea. See here:

Thanks for the link!
I can't get my paws on a plastic inflatable (washable) hospital mattress, so I guess I'll get Milo an eggcrate mattress and cut it into, say, 3 foot squares. They can be dumped if pooped or peed. Making a list for Wal-Mart...tarp, diapers, mattress, kibbles...
why not a toddler bed mattress. They are plastic coated or whatever. I used them for my foster cat that had bathroom issues.
I got mine off of the Freecycle network and Cheapcycle, and one toddler bed was free, the other was practically new, and I paid 10.00 for it.
Check out the Freecycle group in your area. LOTS OF STUFF FOR FREE!!!
Tarps, towels, bedding, pillows.
I put up a post on there a while ago for towels and stuff for my one shelter I volunteer at, I had so much stuff, it filled the back of my car with my seats folded down. Give it a try!!
BRILLIANT idea on the toddler mattress! Thanks!!
As far as his trip update, I'm freaking a good bit right now. Everybody but GILL backed out yesterday, and the person who has the contact with the "adopters" isn't replying. The person who gets things done, 10housecats, has been out of town and will be back online today. She got Ari a ride up here less than 24 hours before Ar would've gotten the Night Night Needle, so there's still hope, I guess.
Yes I am still available when needed. Is there any thing else I can do in the meen time. I just wish I had the room too take him. But at 13 we are over flowing and I might have a one in from the house next to us.
Aww, you're something else, GILL! Things aren't looking too good at this point; apparently they've decided to put him somewhere they won't disclose, and all the other drivers have backed out. :(
Why are they being so evasive when they're asking for help??
I'm in PA if you need transport help. I'm in Allentown, close to the turnpike.
Thanks Jenn! There's nothing new, good or bad, at this point as far as I know. As for the questions, I wish I knew...
Looks like GILL and Milo may be taking a roadtrip tomorrow! :D All the details aren't in place even now, 6 PM. Guess I'll do Milo's shopping in the AM; I hesitated, not knowing how it would shake out.
Poor GILL has been on the road all day. Traffic was heavy, I hear, but he has passed off Milo/Sherbet (who may get yet another name change) to the next driver.
He really is a doll face boy. I figured they'd be late since it had been monsooning, but they pulled up right about 5. I had diapers, groceries, and Ar's blankets in the truck, so I was SHOCKED he had a ginormous crate and 2 bags of stuff LOL. We managed to make it work, and he got to visit with the herd through the crate. Sass and Domino wanted to help him play with his toys, and the others just checked him out. I might've heard Jojo, the terrible tortie, hiss, but NOBODY else did! Sass the sweet tortie wanted to love on him!!
He's not happy with his own room, but I've promised him he won't live there and that he'll come out and visit tomorrow. A bath is on the agenda, then I'll see if he wants to come to bed & snuggle, like Ar likes to do.
GILL called somebody, and he made it home safely, too. Thanks GILL!!!!!!
Yes, Gill is an angel...he's gotten his wings many times over! I'm so glad that Milo/Sherbet/whoever:) is finally to his furrever home! I think there has been more than one pair of wings given out over this baby! appy getting to know one another!
John Gill, you are THE BEST!!!!!!!!
Glad the furbaby is safe.
Any chance of pics?
Maybe you might combine "Milo" and "Sherbert" and call him Shilo!:D
GREAT that he is home! GILL, you are a saint!
John Gill has his own special place in heaven. God Bless you for all you do for these fur babies.
