Sweet Cat With Four Legs Mucked Up Needs Home, WI

Honey is the sweetest cat. She loves attention and would probably be
happiest in someone's lap all day long. Her front legs are
underdeveloped and crooked. Her back legs are stiff and only move at
the hip. She manages to walk, but can't climb or jump and can't get
into a litterbox. We've got her using potty pads, but don't know if
that will be a good long term solution. We are wondering if there is an
adopter out there for her, or if we should consider euthanasia (she's
so sweet, we don't like to think of this option!). The people who had
her for the past 5 years (since she was born to one of their cats) got
tired of her and brought her to the shelter.

Suggestions, anyone?

Tired of her after 5 years. Nice. I'm maxed out at 7 so all I can offer are my prayers. Good luck in finding the sweet one a permanent home w/people who understand the meaning of love and commitment.

That poor sweet baby and those IDIOTS who tired of her after 5 years?:confused::eek::eek: That's sickening. Like Medusa, I'm maxed out at 6 of my own plus a foster recovering from her spay in my bathroom.

I hope someone can save this poor baby.

PS--A very, very good friend in TX, who doesn't post here, is considering taking her. She's willing to buy the kitty an airplane ticket but can't fly up there herself to get her. She wants to know if anybody knows if any airlines would let Honey fly unaccompanied?

I've never had experience w/flying animals anywhere so I can't help there but I just wanted to say that I do hope your friend takes her. The second video did it for me. How can people be so heartless to discard such a sweet girl because they're tired of her? If I could, I'd take her in heartbeat! Please keep us updated on her, PLEASE.

If she can't get to the potential home in TX.. and if someone else good doesn't show up nearby.. Well, maybe we can figure out how to get her to Ann Arbor!

What a gorgeous girl she is... how could they just give her up after 5 years?! UGH!!! I wonder if massage would help her back legs?? I hope she can get a permanent home soon!

Aww isn't it wonderful, just look at all the interest that has been created in Honey now, there looks like at least three people who want to take her, she is indeed secured of finding a wonderful home by the looks of it, awesome job everyone.:love:

It looks like they're hoping for a placement that's "more local," although I can't imagine why. :confused: With such a "severely disabled" baby having to travel isn't unusual to get a good home. As far as I know, it's all still up-in-the-air. :(

well i guess if they can home her locally would be better in the long run, but i would also be thinking getting her a good home is the top priority first, not the area, after all surely disabled kitties are harder to place, or am i wrong ?

Absolutely, especially the truly disabled ones, like this little girl. I don't consider tripods disabled, but even they may be a little slower to be adopted.

Yes, so many of them are not disabled at all but too many people want "perfect". If I wanted perfect, I wouldn't have most of my Fur Posse because 5 out of 8 (one is now at the Bridge) are considered disabled. Ridiculous! They can do what every other cat can do: get into mischief on a daily basis. :p

What a sweet girl Honey is. I can't understand how anyone could her up after 5 years! :mad: :( You can tell from the video's that she so enjoys tummy rubs and attention. :) I really hope she'll find a loving forever home!

Well, a local new home would definitely be less traumatic and frightening for Honey to get to, and less complicated and expensive for Monica and me (or whomever) to arrange.

The most important thing to remember is, she WILL go to a loving, welcoming home, even if she has to travel to get there.

I'll go to Ludington to meet the ferry .. I'll take it across to Wisconsin if I have to.. to get her if my place is her best opportunity.

And if Texas or Kentucky (or wherever) seems like a better home, I will be glad to contribute to be sure she gets there safe and sound and happy.

This is wonderful, Pat. I'm sure wherever she goes, she's going to have a wonderful home because it's apparent that so many people care but to have a home w/you would be the ultimate gift for her. What a jewel you are!
