Continued Problems for Snoopy!

Snoopy has been doing so well this last week and we have done so well getting him his meds right on time that I thought we would have some clear sailing for awhile but.....

Carl and I went to see my parents this afternoon which is only about a half hour from here. We just got on the road home and Christy called to say that Snoopy was having a seizure and how much valium to him. By the time we got home he had had 5 seizures- an all time high! 5 seizures in one hour! Not good at all - I'm expecting the vets will add another antiseizure medications.

Christy said that Jasmine was great through the whole thing. She got Christy towels, put Tucker in his kennel to keep him from being underfoot. took Dominic to their bedroom to keep him out of the way. She was very mature for her 4 years.

So more prayers needed.

Oh poor Snoopy. :( I know this must be so hard for all of you. My continued prayers.

I am so sorry. I was hoping things would be clear for a while now, too. Poor Snoopy :( I know it must hurt to feel so helpless through it all. I wish he, and you, would get a break. Just let him be a happy dog. Hug him for me.

Diana, I hope and pray the vets can find a med that works for him!

I am so sorry to hear this. Poor Snoop. :( I hope some changes in his

I have been following your threads but haven't posted yet. I pray for Snoopy and your family as this must be so hard. Get well Snoopy.

Snoopy has had a bad day today - no more seizures but he is so disoriented and restless and whining. He didn't sleep much last night so I am very tired this morning plus I had an upset stomach evidently due to something I ate so the night seemed really long. I talked to the vet and we are adding an additional anti-seizure medication but she warned that if he kept having seizures like these last ones it might be time. And watching him tonight I didn't even go get the prescription. He is so sad and she said the medication would take 3-4 days to take effect. If he is not doing better tomorrow evening, as a family, we have talked it over and for his sake we think we will have to let him go. It is not fair to let him be so uncomfortable for days not knowing if this medication will even help or not. It will also cost us about another $50 a month.

On top of that Jack is not doing any better so they have decided to put him on a drug for senility --- and guess what --- it costs $90 a month. (the good news about that being that I can get a generic from Canada for just a little more than a 1/3rd. Again I need to thank all of those who have been sending money - it really helps us get through this difficut time.

Pray for us all - letting go of him will be very hard for all of us!

I know how hard it is to make that choice, but just hearing him cry while I was on the phone, is so heart breaking. I'm sure that God will help you do the right thing and make the choice that is best for everyone. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day, and he'll have some time left.

Who knows, maybe Rob is asking for a dog for his 30th birthday and Snoopy is his present.

My heart is just breaking for you all, but I'm sure watching poor Snoopy be in such misery has got to be about unbearable.

LES, sad, but perhaps a silver lining to make letting go a little easier. I know Snoopy will have a furry blond friend waiting to greet him with a play bow at the RB, whenever it's time.

*Sniff* I'm so sad that Snoops isn't doing great. Poor spotty boy. I'm so sorry. I know you've made a very hard decision, one we all dread. I don't know what to say except to thank you for being so unselfish. We all love Snoopy very very much and he'll be in our hearts forever.

How did Snoopy do last night? I hope you both were able to get some sleep.

Snoopy did not do well at all last night. He cannot seem to calm down. He whines and whines and maybe sleeps for an hour at a time. Then he is up whining at me and I don't know what he wants - and I have come to believe that all he wants is to not feel this way anymore. He is confused, doesn't seem to know if he is hungry or thirsty and over does both. He wants out, pees and then paces the back yard. I kept asking Christy this morning if she didn't think he was whining less this morning but she just looked at me and said, Mom just look at him, he looks miserable. Amazing what we don't see when we don't want to see it. I just want him to be my happy, silly boy and can't stand the thought of life without him.

I don't think I have ever told you that since we don't have actual birth dates for any of our dogs (except Tucker) and since I have such a lousy memory, I have given each of the dogs one of my kids birthdays closest to my guess of when they were born. Taggert is Amy's, Dazzi is Christy's, Jack is Carl's, Pippi is Ralph's, and Snoopy's was Rob's. Rob would have been 30 this Sunday and Snoopy would have been 6. Rob didn't like Snoopy much because Snoopy as a pup was full of way too much energy. Rob would be stretched out on the couch in the family room reading or watching TV and here would come Snoopy running full strength through the house into the family room and land right on Rob and not particularly caring what part of Rob (or anyone else) he landed on. Snoopy used to make Rob so mad but Rob and he became friends after the seizures started and Snoopy calmed down some. Anyway it looks like Rob will be getting a dog for his birthday - we have made an appointment for tonight to have him put down. Rob always wanted to have a dog who would sleep on his bed with him and Snoopy is really good at that - probably the best snuggler I have. I am sitting here at work bawling my eyes out but no one is here but me to see.

Diana, {{{Hugs}}}. I actually want to cry right now, but can't because there are two people in my cubby right now. I am so sorry, I know how hard that decision is. Snoopy says thank you for loving me so much that you are willing to make such difficult decisions for me. {{{Hugs}}}

As much as I hate it, it does sound like it is time. I woke up and cried several times last night, and now I am crying again at work. Go peacefully Snoopy Boy. Give Rob lots of kisses for all of us. We love you!
