Hi and welcome to Pet Talk!
This is about the only pet board I hang out on so I'm sorry I don't know of any others to tell you about. Hopefully you'll find what you need here.
Please tell us about your cat(s). I have seven cats now but I had just added number three when I joined here four years ago. This place has a way of "encouraging" you to add to the family. :D
I have a Bengal named Mowgli. He is 9 weeks old, only had him 2 1/2 days now, he is slowly becoming less scared.
This is a hard time for both us and him I think, its hard having a cat who justs wants to run away!
Anyone have any suggestions on what I should be doing while he is this new let me know!
Heres a couple pics.
He was really young here! Maybe 3 or 4 weeks?

He's gorgeous!
Just let him take his own time to get used to the new place and people, usually doesn't take too long.
As G535 said, let him get used to the place. Also, you can use an old shoelace to play with him. He can chase and 'kill' the one end of it - and he will be playing with you, yet not so close that he is uncomfy.
Playing is a good way to bond with him! He is SOOO cute! :)
Welcome to PT!!!:) I hope you'll like it here. This is the best message board that I've ever been a member of. Your kitten sure is a cutie pie.:) Please keep the pictures coming.;)
Thanks for all the hellos, I am so happy to have stumbled across an extremely active message board as this one.
I think Im going to be on here alot!
Hi, welcome! This site "can" become addictive, he he.
Mowgli is such a wonderful kitty! As mentioned, play time is a great way to bond and help him to overcome his caution and nervousness.

I am sure you will love it here, I know I do!!!
Welcome :)
Mowgli will be lots of fun :D
As he is a Bengal he will be very active and naughty- so he is not exactly the sofa doily ;) When my boys were this age I always called them the Mongole hordes.
But of course if he looks at you you will just melt and forgive everything :)
One more quick question.
Is it good or bad or neither to have lots of people in contact with the cat when its new?
For the first 3 days it has only been me and my girlfriend, but lots of people want to meet him, and Im just not sure if it would be good or bad to start introducing him to new faces.
Hey welcome to PetTalk!:D It's great to have another new member and your right, I love this site too. Some people might differ from my opinion, but I always get my animals used to people right away. Of course I would give a new cat a day or two to get used to their new home, but after that I let any one who is trustable to see him and pet him with me there of course, that way the cat grows up to be very fond of human:)
Mowgli is adorable! Love the ears! After he gets used to you and his surroundings, let him meet other people so that he can become socialized. Oh, btw, welcome to PT! :)
Welcome to PT! Funny how we ran across one another here.... we've "known of" one another many years on another, non-pet related, forum. Congratulations on your new sweet kitty and for finding PT. As you can see, I post here way more than the other forum. :eek:Quote:

I tried not to expose him to a lot of people at first, and now Im letting him choose who he wants to visit with. Some days he comes out of hiding, some days not lol.
Welcome to PT! I have two babies Jack & Sunny who were from a Cat's Protection shelter here in South Wales. You can check out their website here if you haven't heard of them, they're THE cat charity in the United Kingdom

You can see a picture of Jack (naughty mummy's boy!) and Sunny (naughty daddy's girl!) below :)
Mowgli is beautiful and very handsome, I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun with him growing up!
Socialising wise I think it's best to introduce him to one new person at a time, so he can get used to smells and different situations. Bengals are supposed to be Extremely sociable animals so he will probably be a doll in the future! Let him do things at his own pace, as of course you can't force a cat to do anything it doesn't want. (and tha'ts why we all love them!)
Just take it slowly but surely and I'm sure he'll grow up very confident.
Interaction with him yourself with playing etc is paramount for his development I think.
A very hearty WELCOME to you and your gorgeous Bengal kitty Mowgli.
Like others said, interacting with him should help with his shyness. In regards to meeting other people, I would just have 1 or 2 people come over at a time every other day. Gosh he is just too darn cute. I love Bengals and I am looking forward to seeing more pictures of him growing up. :)
