Can you remember where you were when you heard the news 30 years ago?
I was on a caravan holiday in Winchelsea with my parents and my brother.

I was on holiday in Ayr with a friend who said "I suppose he'll never tour the UK now then?" Although I believe one of the latest sightings of him was in a supermarket in Edinburgh, so who knows?
We were on our way to Williamsburg, Virginia for vacation. By the time we got there, we actually saw people wearing shirts with his picture and the dates of his birth and death on the front. I know that many people bought them because of how much they loved Elvis but I couldn't help but think how quickly people were making money from his death. :(
I was only 9 but I remember playing at my best friend/next door neighbor's house. We were in my friend's bedroom room where I was trying on her her hand-me-down clothes for the new school year (she was a couple of years older than me) and the radio broke in with the news.
I had just started working at a company in Kankakee, Illinois. Just the year before I had seen him in concert in Chicago. I still have my ticket stub!
I was outside detailing the inside of a car when a family member came forth and told me the news~ I a about fainted~
I'm glad you shared that "laughing moment" with us again Brody's mum, I turned the volume up, full blast, to get my hubby out of bed!!!!!!!!!!!! :D
I can't remember.....if it was 30 years ago, then I was 28 at the time.
Never really was into Elvis, so probably just went over my head at the time.
Wom
I was 10 and walking home from my piano lesson. My best friend, who at the time was a mega-total Elvis fan, lived across the street from my piano teacher. She watched for me to leave my teacher's house and then came racing across the street, crying, to tell me the news.
I dunno. I think I was at work, and heard about it when I got home.
I wasnt alive :p
I was working as a nurse's aide at a nursing home when the news hit.
My Dad passed away 30 years later to the date of Elvis's death.
I was waiting to be born 14 days later!!!!!http://bestsmileys.com/lol/4.gif
I remember hearing the news, but I'll be darned if I can remember where I was at the time. I would have been 14 years old and I was not an Elvis fan. Last night we were watching reports on the news about the lines at Graceland and saw all those people standing there in line, with their candles in hand and my DH said "I wish we were there". He is a huge Elivis fan and he is 5 years younger than I am!
I can't believe that Elvis died at age 42. What a shame.

Half of me was traveling around in my mom's ovary, and the other half of me wasn't made yet.
